Tourism flourishes in Lang Son city

Focusing on investing in tourism infrastructure, building new tourism products and improving the quality of existing tourism products are practical solutions that all levels and sectors in Lang Son city have implemented in recent years. From there, it meets the increasing needs of tourists, contributing to the development of city tourism.

In the first 7 months of 2023, Lang Son city attracted 1.86 million visitors (accounting for nearly 60% of the total number of visitors to the province in the first 7 months of 2023), an increase of 50% over the same period in 2022, including nearly 60 international visitors and 1.8 million domestic visitors. Revenue is estimated at 497 billion VND. This is a good sign for the city’s tourism sector.

To get these results, in recent times, the city’s tourism sector has effectively implemented the province’s resolutions, programs, and tourism development projects as well as the goals set by the city.

Mrs. Hoang Thuy Ninh, Deputy Head of the Culture and Information Division of Lang Son city said: Determining tourism as a key economic sector, the city has increased investment in developing infrastructure systems, information technology and landscape appearance to promote tourism development in a modern and professional direction. At the same time, the division improved the quality of tourism human resources through organizing tourism human resource training classes for businesses and tourism communities; focused investment resources on improving service quality, developing new tourism products, aiming for high-quality ecological and experiential tourism products; Actively organize cultural, sports and tourism events…

Accordingly, the city’s infrastructure and urban beautification systems are given proper attention and investment, gradually changing the urban appearance. In particular, socialized funding for the renovation of relics in the area to promote the development of spiritual tourism was implemented effectively with a capital of over 100 billion VND. Additionally, the city also attracted large investors in investing in modernizing urban areas in the city such as: Phu Loc 1, 2 , 3 4 urban areas; Southern urban area of the city; Shophouse townhouse complex in Chi Lang ward…

In addition to focusing on tourism infrastructure, from 2018 to present, the city also directed wards and communes to build tourist signs at tourist attractions and relics, print 20,000 leaflets, 3,000 English – Vietnamese bilingual catalogs and city tourism handbooks, etc. At the same time, the city organized 3 training courses to foster management skills and improve professional capacity for 300 State management officials in culture, tourism, the presenters are teachers, social and cultural officials and youth union members of the city, wards, communes and businesses in the area…

The city also gradually applied information technology to management, propaganda, promotion of tourism such as: implementing the plan to digitally build Nhi Thanh – Tam Thanh tourist site, To Thi mountain, Mac Dynasty Citadel, Lang Son city; digitizing the tourism database, applying science and technology to tourism management and exploitation, creating conditions for organizations and individuals to look up information, update and share data on city tourism.

Mrs. Nong Thu Ha, a tourist from Hanoi, said: On September 2, I went on a trip to Lang Son city. I was very impressed with the automatic 360-degree narration at Tam Thanh Pagoda tourist destination. The application helped me have a panoramic view of the monument easily without the need for a tour guide. I found this to be a very good way of Lang Son city.

At the same time, the city’s tourism products are increasingly perfected, diverse, and in-depth with many types such as: spiritual cultural tourism; shopping; agricultural ecotourism… Among them, typical examples include vineyards in Mai Pha and chestnut farm in Quang Lac; model of guava, strawberry, and orange farms in Tam Thanh ward, Hoang Dong commune; Peach garden tourism model in Ban Cao hamlet, Quang Lac commune.

In particular, since 2020, the City People’s Committee has built a new tourism product “Ky Lua Walking Street” with the traditional cultural space of Lang Son city’s ethnic minorities combined with commercial services, introduce local products.

Ky Lua Walking Street is completed and operates periodically 8 days/month (every Friday and Saturday) from 6 – 24 hours. Since its operation until now (from October 16, 2020 to April 2023), the walking street has attracted over 350,000 people to visit.

In 2023, Lang Son city strives to welcome over 2.8 million visitors, including about 100,000 international visitors and over 2.7 million domestic visitors. With the above efforts, we believe that the city’s tourism sector will soon achieve its set goals and have stronger and more sustainable development in the future.
