Summer youth volunteer campaign launched in Lang Son

(LSO) – The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) chapter of Lang Son province launched the 2020 summer youth volunteer campaign, during an event held in Bac Son district on June 24.

More than 800 members of the HCYU Lang Son chapter, the district’s armed forces and youths participated in the event.

This year’s campaign, which runs until the end of August, features various activities such as building and upgrading children playgrounds, enhancing civilised lifestyle in urban areas, and providing free medical checkups and medicine.

At the ceremony, the organisers presented gifts to 20 disadvantaged students with outstanding achievements. The executive board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Lang Son handed over aid to build houses for three people.

In addition, the provincial Tax Department offered 100 million VND (4,280 USD) to support the building of two Red Scarf houses, while the young entrepreneurs’ association granted 20 million VND to help local poor households improve economic conditions.

Police of the province and Bac Son district and MobiFone Lang Son also funded the building of a great solidarity house and a 6-km lighting system on rural roads.

After the event, participants joined a parade to raise awareness of traffic safety, environmental protection and drug prevention and control.

Representatives of departments and sectors start the construction of a house for Hoang Van Hai, a resident of Minh Son village, Tan Tri commune./.

Some of them later began the construction of great solidarity houses in Tan Tri commune and provided health checkups for 200 people.

Others engaged in training courses in business, technology transfer and career counseling and other voluntary activities.
