Provincial People’s Committee leaders inspected at Huu Nghi International Border Gate

(LSO) – On the afternoon of August 10, the delegation of the Provincial People’s Committee led by Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee inspected and worked with relevant agencies and forces on the goods import and export situation, the prevention and control of Covid-19 at Huu Nghi International Border Gate.

According to the report of Dong Dang – Lang Son Economic Zone Management Board, in the first 7 months of 2020, all levels, sectors and forces at Huu Nghi International Border Gate in particular and border gates in the province regularly inspect and understand the situation and drastically implement measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic.

Currently, before the complicated return of the Covid-19 epidemic, the specialized driving team at the border gate continued to be maintained. Along with that, from August 11, 2020 the operation of mobile quarantine posts at the border gates will be restored.

Regarding the import and export situation of goods, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, in the first 7 months of 2020, the total import-export turnover through Huu Nghi International Border Gate reached over 860 million USD, down about 30% compared to the same period in 2019.

Currently, due to the complicated development of the Covid-19 epidemic in the country, the Chinese side tightens the medical control of drivers from Vietnam carrying export goods to China. In recent days, at Huu Nghi International Border Gate and other border gates, on average, there are more than 500 vehicles carrying export goods left at the border gate every day which are unable to do customs clearance.

At the meeting, leaders of Dong Dang – Lang Son Economic Zone Management Board, Department of Health, leaders of departments, branches, units, representatives of Xuan Cuong Co., Ltd. exchanged and clarified the difficulties and problems in customs clearance in recent years.

Speaking at the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee requested relevant agencies to continue implementing synchronous solutions to effectively implement Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control, and faciliatate goods import and export activities.

Accordingly, Dong Dang – Lang Son Economic Zone Management Board, the border guards, the medical quarantine agency etc should continue to strictly implement the medical control process for all drivers, owners of goods within Huu Nghi International Border Gate area and other border gates in the province.

Relevant agencies should continue to hold talks with the Chinese authorities to agree on measures to monitor import and export goods between the two sides, especially agreeing the opening hours for customs clearance procedures. Huu Nghi International Border Gate, as well as Tan Thanh Border Gate and Chi Ma border gate.

All related levels, departments, branches and  units need to proactively implement solutions to attract more businesses to import and export goods through the province. Customs Department should direct forces at the border gates to facilitate customs clearance for exports; closely control the origin of import and export goods. The border guards need to continue to drastically implement border control measures in order to prevent illegal entry into the area.
