Shine forever the tradition of “When drinking water, think of its source”

– Every year, on the occasion of July 27, provinces throughout the country, including Lang Son province, are excited to pay gratitude and tribute to heroes, fallen and wounded soldiers and their relatives.

In these days of July, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and Uncle Ho’s soldiers once again felt emotional and reminisced about the days of struggling on the battlefield. The stories of the battlefield that are proudly told  to their children and grandchildren … perhaps always be the most emotional felling  in the soldiers who  was once lived and died together.

Mr. Nong Van Thien, born in 1937, wounded soldiers with an injury rate of 61%,  in Lang Giai A village, Nhan Ly commune, Chi Lang district was deeply emotional when he was visited and given gifts by the provincial delegation on the occasion of July 27. He shared: The timely visits and encouragement of the Party, State, and leaders of provinces, districts and communes make me and those with meritorious services always feel gratitude, sharing and encouragement. so that we can overcome physical pain, live happily and usefully with our children and grandchildren.

Not only he was encouraged and  visited every year,but also this year, Mr. Vy Xuan Dinh, a type 2/3 patient in Yen Binh village, Binh Gia town, Binh Gia district has a greater joy is receiving support of 100 million VND from the Provincial Propaganda Department Committee and businesses to rebuild a new and more spacious house. Mr. Dinh shared: My family has 4 members, my wife has a serious accident for a long time, the family’s income is mainly rely on my sick soldier’s allowance and my son with his wife work as a farmer, we have little farming land so life is difficult. For a long time, the whole family has lived in a four-level house made in 1995, which is now badly damaged, with cracked walls, crumbling bricks, unsecured accommodation conditions. With donations and support from the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee and some businesses, now I have built a new house, im very happy…

These are just two of the many joys of the wounded, sick soldiers and meritorious people being cared for and helped every year in the province. According to statistics from the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the province has about 20 thousand meritorious people and currently, the province is managing and paying monthly allowances to over 3.9 thousand people and their relatives with a budget of about 7.4 billion VND. Additional from effective implementation of policies and regimes, every year, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year and the Invalids and Martyrs’ Day on July 27, leaders of the province, departments, branches, localities and businesses organize  visits, give gifts to  show gratitude and encourage meritorious people in the province. In 2021, the province organizes 7 delegations to visit and give gifts to 15 policy families, meritorious people of the province; send gifts to wounded, sick soldiers nursing in the neighboring provinces; Districts and citiy also organize delegations to visit and give gifts in the area. Along with that, the Gratitude Fund from the provincial level to the districts and city has contributed to support housing construction (building new house, repair) for policy families, meritorious people to the revolution; repairing stele  with names of martyrs, memorial stele houses…

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Deputy Head of the meritorious people Division, Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs said: Over the years, housing support for meritorious people has been paid attention by the province and implemented with many synchronous solutions, mobilized from many sources. . From the Fund of Gratitude, in the first 6 months of 2021, all levels have supported the repair of 4 gratitude houses worth 70 million VND, repaired 3 steles with names of martyrs, 1 memorial stele house. , worth 411 million VND. In addition, agencies, units of the armed forces, businesses inside and outside the province have joined hands to contribute in the movement of socializing meritorious people care. In the first 6 months of 2021, units such as: Military Region 1, Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Commission, Red Cross Committee, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army participated in supporting the construction of 12 new houses of gratitude and repairing 1 house of gratitude with a total cost of more than 1 billion VND; benefactors gave 134 gifts to policy families, meritorious people, worth 54.8 million VND.

Notably, the Provincial People’s Committee issued Decision 1306/QD-UBND dated July 1, 2021 approving the list and funding to support meritorious people to the revolution with housing difficulty. According to the decision, the whole province has 1,202 meritorious households supported to repair and build new houses in 2 years 2021 – 2022 with a total cost of 33,160 million VND. In which, in 2021, there are 618 households with a budget of 16,480 million VND; In 2022, there are 548 households with a budget of 16,680 million VND. Currently, localities have been making efforts to coordinate with families to support repair and build new house according to the 2021 plan.

Although it has been paid attention, but according to the new multidimensional poverty line, in 2021, the living standards of the meritorious people  households was reduced, now 4.2% of the meritorious people have a low living standard, 95.8% of the meritorious people has equal  or higher living standard than the people in their areas. Therefore, the Provincial People’s Committee has directed the People’s Committees of districts and city to develop plans and have specific solutions to improve the living standards of the meritorious people households, striving by the end of 2021, ensuring that 100% of the meritorious people  households have an average or higher living standard, there is no longer a poor household or a near-poor household according to the multidimensional poverty line for the period 2016-2020.
