The delegation of the Provincial People’s Committee meets with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam

On the afternoon of August 30, 2022, in Ha Noi, the delegation of the Provincial People’s Committee led by Mr. Ho Tien Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee worked with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea (ROK) in Vietnam. Mr. Park Noh Wan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam received and worked with the delegation.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee said that after the meeting on July 20, 2022 between the Provincial People’s Committee and the delegation of the Embassy of the ROK in Vietnam, the Provincial People’s Committee has requested relevant agencies and units of the province review and survey the province’s actual situation and needs in fields of cooperation including seasonal labor, Korean language teaching and investment, cooperation on ODA…

Accordingly, through preliminary review, there are currently more than 200 employees in the province who need to work seasonally in the agricultural sector in Korea. In order to promote this content, the leader of the Provincial People’s Committee asked the Embassy of ROK to connect with localities in Korea for further discussion and agreement on how to implement and proceed to sign the an agreement on temporary labor cooperation.

Regarding cooperation in Korean language teaching, the Provincial People’s Committee asked the Embassy of ROK in Vietnam to support and connect with Korean organizations to open a Korean language training center in Lang Son, and at the same time to send Korean experts and volunteers support the teaching of Korean (as an optional subject) in the schools of the province.

Regarding ODA cooperation, Lang Son suggested implementing 7 projects, of which 5 are in the health sector and 2 in the education sector. Regarding investment cooperation, the Provincial People’s Committee expected the Embassy to support, introduce, connect and introduce Korean investors and businesses to survey and invest in the province. Priority areas to attract investment include industrial infrastructure, processing, commercial services, high-tech agricultural production…

In terms of local cooperation, Lang Son province has cooperated with Gangwon province since 2016, but the two sides’ cooperation was only staff training and humanitarian aid. Therefore, the leader of the Provincial People’s Committee asked the Embassy to facilitate the expansion of cooperation with Gangwon province and other localities of Korea; to support Lang Son province to continue the cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on training and capacity building of Lang Son province’s officials in the next period (2023 – 2025).

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, the leader of the Provincial People’s Committee hoped the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of ROK to pay attention to and support Lang Son in organizing a conference to exchange and sign cooperation agreements between Korean localities and businesses with Lang Son province. At the same time, it is expected that exhibition to introduce the culture and cuisine of Vietnam and Korea in general, of Lang Son province and some localities of Korea in particular will be held in Lang Son province in October 2022.

Speaking at the meeting, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the ROK in Vietnam highly appreciated the socio-economic development of Lang Son province over the years, especially the development of border gate economy. .

Discussing a number of contents that the delegation of the People’s Committee of Lang Son was interested in and suggested at the meeting, the Ambassador basically agreed on the contents proposed by Lang Son province and required the members of the Embassy to work with relevant departments and sectors of the province about them.

Also at the meeting, representatives of a number of large Korean enterprises such as Samsung, Hanaro TNS, MDA E&C in Vietnam… asked the Provincial People’s Committee to support these companies in importing all kinds of components and supplies for manufacturing. These companies also wanted to make investment in Lang Son province, in which focusing on assembly, logistics, logistics complex, resort area… in Lang Son.

Through listening to the opinions of Korean companies, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee affirmed that the province always supports Korean businesses in import and export activities through the province. At the same time, it would always create the most favorable conditions for Korean businesses to invest in Lang Son province.
