Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee engages in dialogue with farmers

On the morning of November 14, the Provincial Farmers’ Association held a dialogue between the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and farmers in 2022 with the theme “Support farmers to restore sustainable agricultural and rural development”.

Attending the dialogue were Mr. Ho Tien Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; leaders of departments, boards, sectors and mass organizations of the province; leaders of the People’s Committees of districts and Lang Son city and over 200 delegates representing nearly 114,000 farmers in the province.

With frankness and openness, at the dialogue, farmers directly suggested the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, departments and sectors focusing on the increasing price of raw agricultural materials and animal feed, difficult output for agricultural products which need support for production and consumption by the State; strengthening  the “4 factors” linkage in agricultural production and new-style agricultural cooperative development; strengthening the training on digital economy development for farmers; increasing investment in rural road system; seeking solutions to expand export markets and to form connection in consumption of agricultural products; promoting start-up in agriculture. The farmer also wished the land use right valuation to be closer to the market price; they hoped to receive stable sources of income or jobs after their land is recovered for the construction of socio-economic works and projects; policies on social insurance, health insurance, loans for production and business with preferential interest rates for farmers…

The questions at the dialogue were directly answered by the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and the leaders of the departments, boards and sectors, they also provided more information to the farmers.

Speaking at the dialogue, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee affirmed: “The dialogue aims to raise awareness of farmers about the Party’s guidelines, the State’s policies and laws on cooperation and association in production and consumption of agricultural products, policies to support farmers in agricultural economy development, investment in transport infrastructure to create favorable conditions for farmers to produce, trade their agricultural products and protect the rural environment. At the same time, it helps the Party committees, authorities and farmers’ associations at all levels to know what farmers want and solve their difficulties in linking production and consumption of products and environmental issues in current agricultural production”. The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee also requested all levels, sectors and farmers’ associations at all levels to increasingly popularizing the Party’s guidelines, the State’s policies and laws on agriculture and rural areas to all farmers in the province; he asked departments and sectors to focus on researching and advising the province to promulgate documents and policies in accordance with the opinions of farmer raised at the dialogue.

For comments and recommendations of farmers that have not been mentioned at the dialogue, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee asked the Provincial Farmers’ Association to collect and send to relevant units for written answers in November 2022. He also expected that farmers would renew their thinking and equip themselves with knowledge about agricultural and rural economic development in the new situation.
