Lang Son leading officials welcomes Vatican envoy to Vietnam

(LSO) – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lang Son Duong Xuan Huyen held a reception on October 21 for Vatican envoy to Vietnam, Archbishop Marek Zalewski, who was on a working visit to the province.

The reception was attended by leaders of the provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee, and a number of departments and sectors.

At the reception, Huyen briefed the guest on major natural and population characteristics of the province as well as socio-economic and security-defence situation, and religious activitiesin the locality.

He affirmed that contributions by the people from the ethnic groups as well as religious followers are significant to the achievements of the province.

Huyen expressed his hope that after the visit, Archbishop Marek Zalewski will continue encourage Catholics in Lang Son-Cao Bang Diocese to promote the achievements and follow policies and law of the Party and State, contributing to boosting the locality’s development.

For his part, Archbishop Marek Zalewski thanked Lang Son leaders for the warm welcome. He expressed his impression on the socio-economic development and locals of Lang Son.

He said he hopes for the strengthening of relations between religious organizations and the administration through dialogue, as well as favourable conditions for religious dignitaries and followers to operate in the locality./.
