English, Chinese versions of Lang Son e-newspaper launched

(LSO) – On October 25 afternoon, Lang Son newspaper held a ceremony to launch its English and Chinese versions.

Attending the event were permanent Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Hoang Van Nghiem, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Duong Xuan Huyen, leaders from departments, agencies, districts, and representatives from local enterprises and Vietnam News Agency.

At the event, member of the provincial Party Committee and Editor-in-Chief of Lang Son newspaper Hoang Dinh Hom recalled preparations for the launch of the new versions. Accordingly, it was built in July 2019 and piloted in August 2019.

At present, the electronic newspaper publishes nearly 70 news and articles on average each day, including those by its editors and others from Vietnam News Agency, Nhan dan (People) newspaper and Communist Party newswire. It is the province’s official information channel in English and Chinese, contributing to popularising local strengths and potential to readers and friends at home and abroad, promoting investment in diverse areas for the sake of local socio-economic development. In particular, the debut of the Chinese version starts from the demand of the province bordering China for increasing news for foreign service, ensuring security, building a borderline of peace, friendship and cooperation for mutual development.

The coming into being of the English and Chinese versions marks an important milestone throughout the 55 years of the Lang Son newspaper development in general and over the 11 years of operation and development of the Lang Son e-newspaper in particular.

Addressing the event, Nghiem said the launch of the English and Chinese versions is an important event marking the growth of Lang Son newspaper, thus meeting demand for integration and development.

He directed Lang Son newspaper to actively and promptly grasp information at home and abroad to fully and correctly popularise local socio-economic development policy, mechanisms and policies to attract investment in the province, and local strengths, potential and people to international friends. It should renew contents on both printed and electronic forms; improve personnel quality and strengthen editorial apparatus, thus better meeting demand in the new situation.
