Restoring import and export activities of aquatic products and seafood through Coc Nam Border Gate

According to information from the Management Board of Dong Dang – Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone, through talks and agreements between the functional agencies of Lang Son province (Vietnam) and the authorities of Bang Tuong town, Guangxi province (China), On July 3, 2023, the Department of Commerce of Bang Tuong Town responded to the restoration of import and export activities of aquatic products and seafood through the Coc Nam border gate (Vietnam) – Nong Yao  border gate (China).

Accordingly, after nearly 3 years of suspending the import and export of aquatic products through this pair of border gates, on the morning of July 5, a shipment of fresh seafood with a weight of 5 tons carried out export procedures through the Coc Nam border gate (Vietnam) – Nong Yao border gate(China).

Currently, China has strict requirements on conditions for traceability of aquatic products, seafood, Therefore, Coc Nam Border Gate Customs Branch recommends that business exporting aquatic products need to ensure a full certificate of origin (C/O) before export to the Chinese market.

According to the leader of Coc Nam border gate Customs Branch, aquatic products are one of the main products exported through Coc Nam border gate. Before August 2021, the average output of aquatic products and seafood exported through the border gate reached an average of 20 tons/day.

However, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, from August 2021 to before July 5, 2023, aquatic products and seafood products have not been cleared through Coc Nam – Nong Yao border gates.
