Opening ceremony of the Peach Blossom Festival of Xu Lang in the year of the Cat 2023: An amazingly splendid Lang Son – The color of the borderland

On the evening of January 15 (ie, 24^th of the last lunar month, the year of the Tiger), at Mailand Hoang Dong Urban Area, Lang Son City, the Organizing Committee of the Peach Blossom Festival of Xu Lang in 2023 opened the festival with the theme : “An amazingly splendid Lang Son – The color of the borderland “.

Attending the program were Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Quoc Doan; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Hoang Van Nghiem;, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Ho Tien Thieu; Member of Standing Committee of Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of Provincial People’s Council Doan Thi Hau; Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Duong Xuan Huyen as Head of the Organizing Committee of the Peach Blossom Festival of Xu Lang in 2023; Members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; leader of the General Department of Tourism under Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; representatives of neighboring provinces, sponsors and a large number of people and tourists.

With the characteristics of climate and soil, for a long time, Lang Son has been considered the land of peach blossoms with many beautiful, unique and rare peach varieties known by blossom lovers nationwide.

In order to preserve and promote the cultural and economic values of the peach blossom tree, on October 31, 2018, the Provincial People’s Committee issued a decision approving the project to preserve and develop the value of peach trees and organize the Peach Blossom Festival of Xu Lang. Over many years of organization, the Peach Blossom Festival has become a typical, outstanding and unique cultural activity and tourism product in the spring.

Speaking at the opening of the festival, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Peach Blossom Festival of Xu Lang in 2023 affirmed: “Following the success of the Festival in the past years, Peach Blossom Festival of Xu Lang in 2023 will continue to be celebrated with various and unique activities. This is not only one of the events of practical significance, contributing to creating a joyful atmosphere to congratulate the Party – celebrate spring, but also introduces cultural, humane, friendly and positive messages about the land and people of Lang Son to tourists nationwide, domestic and international friends.

At the opening ceremony, the provincial leaders presented awards to 14 gardeners who won the prize of the most beautiful peach garden in of Lang Son in 2023; 21 prizes to beautiful peach trees of Lang Son in 2023; 34 prizes in the contest of painting beautiful peach blossoms in Xu Lang.

During the ceremony, the delegates enjoyed a special art program with the theme “An amazingly splendid Lang Son – The color of the borderland” and watched the technical fireworks display. Immediately after the opening ceremony, the provincial leaders, delegates and tourists visited the exhibitions within the framework of the festival.

The Peach Blossom Festival of Xu Lang in the year of the Cat 2023 will take place from January 15 to February 19. The festival took place with many exciting exchange activities, imbued with unique indigenous culture including exchanging and singing sli, luon, then; cat lion dance of Tay and Nung ethnic groups; dance club exchanges; street dance exchanges with book and newspaper of spring edition exhibitions; displaying and exchanging OCOP products (one commune one product program), special culinary products of the province with the record of Vietnamese dishes.
