Opening the second Lang Son Provincial Folk Song Festival in 2023

On the evening of October 25, at Loc Binh District Stadium, the Provincial Folk Song Conservation Association coordinated with the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Loc Binh District People’s Committee to organize the opening ceremony of the 2nd Lang Son Provincial Folk Song Festival in 2023.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Ms. Giap Thi Bac, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Commission for Mass Mobilization of the Provincial Party Committee; Ms. Doan Thu Ha, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of Loc Binh District Party Committee; leaders of some departments, boards, sectors of the province, districts in the province and Lang Son city.

After the success of the 1st Provincial Folk Song Festival held in Van Quan in 2020, the 2nd Provincial Folk Song Festival this year had over 250 artisans and amateur actors from 9 districts and Lang Son city in the province (except Trang Dinh district). On October 25 and 26, artisans and actors had performed 41 typical folk songs and dances of the Tay, Nung, Dao, San Chi ethnic groups… with the theme of praising the Party and Uncle Ho, love for the homeland and people of Lang Son, daily life and production of ethnic groups…

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee suggested the delegations participating in the festival overcoming difficulties and performing with solidarity and honesty. He asked the festival judge to work fairly, objectively, and accurately. On this occasion, he also requested the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to continue to chair and coordinate with relevant agencies to strengthen propaganda and raise awareness about the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values associated with tourism development, to advise on building policies for artisans, to restore and promote of the values of folk songs, folk dance and folk music of ethnic groups with typical and unique values.
Performances of artisans and actors of Loc Binh district
The festival is expected to close on October 27. According to the award structure, the Organizing Committee will award first, second, third and consolation prizes to delegations and A, B, C prizes to the best performances.
The festival is a practical activity to celebrate the 192nd anniversary of the founding of Lang Son province (November 4, 1831 – November 4, 2023), commemorating the 114th birthday of comrade Hoang Van Thu (November 4, 1909 – November 4, 2023). Additionally, it is also an opportunity for artisans, actors and professional staff in the province to exchange and learn experiences in organizing cultural and artistic activities at the grassroots level, especially cultural and folk arts activities. Thereby, it all contributes to introducing, advertising, honoring, preserving and promoting folk songs of ethnic groups in the area.
