Delegation of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development inspects implementation of Ban Lai reservoir project

(LSO) – A delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep made a fact-finding trip to the Ban Lai reservoir project in Loc Binh district on June 10.

Ho Tien Thieu, Vice Chairman in charge of the provincial People’s Committee, and leaders of some departments and agencies, and People’s Committees of Loc Binh and Dinh Lap districts worked with the delegation.

It was reported at the working session that the investor has completed measuring over 1,327 ha to serve the construction and approved a resettlement plan for 1,633 households, individuals and organisations with a total funding of nearly 748 billion VND.

Po Hang bridge and a 1.78km section of National Highway No. 31 were built as part of the project. Work also started on the construction of the Po Hang and Pan Pe resettlement areas. The construction of the reservoir is scheduled to begin this month.

Nearly 878 billion VND has been disbursed, meeting 85.37 percent of the set target.

In his remarks, Thieu pledged to instruct departments, agencies, and People’s Committees of Loc Binh and Dinh Lap districts to implement their tasks, thus ensuring the progress of the project.

He asked the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Loc Binh to focus on the resettlement work, safeguard life and property of locals, and speed up land clearance.

For his part, Hiep lauded the province’s implementation efforts, with the construction of certain facilities completed eight months ahead of schedule.

He asked the Irrigation Work Investment and Construction Management Board No. 2 under the MARD to instruct the contractor to accomplish the construction of the reservoir and store water no later than December 2020.

All of the households in the project area must be relocated from June to October, he said, adding that the MARD will provide 100 billion VND to help the province with the additional capital.
