Lang Son seeks ways to solve trade obstacles at Tan Thanh border gate

(LSO) – Vice Chairman of the Lang Son provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Cong Truong had a working session and conducted a check at the Tan Thanh border gate on February 6 to seek ways to remove difficulties in goods export and import.

According to the management board of the Dong Dang – Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone, auxiliary border gates in the province have been closed temporarily to prevent and contain the acute respiratory disease caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

However, some businesses have transported goods to local border gates since the Lunar New Year holiday. As of February 6 afternoon, there remained 234 trucks carrying agricultural products, mostly dragon fruit, at the depot of the Tan Thanh border gate waiting to deliver the goods to China.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Cong Truong examines the situation at the truck depot of the Tan Thanh border gate.

At the working session, representatives of authorised agencies like customs, health, border guard and the management board of the Dong Dang – Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone discussed and proposed some solutions to the accumulation of trucks at the Tan Thanh border gate. They said nCoV prevention work must be ensured when those lorries go through custom clearance while the drivers of vehicles carrying exports and imports need to be monitored closely.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Cong Truong noted basing on Document 808/VPCP-KTTH, dated February 5, that announces the Prime Minister’s opinions about ensuring cross-border export, import and goods transportation, the Lang Son provincial People’s Committee on February 6 sent a document to the Government leader to report on the settlement of trade obstacles. In particular, Lang Son proposed the PM permit customs clearance at local auxiliary gates, especially Tan Thanh and Coc Nam.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Cong Truong speaks at the working session.

He said if the PM approves the reopening of auxiliary border gates for customs clearance, relevant agencies must stay ready to carry out the work, in which they must seriously conduct health monitoring of drivers of vehicles carrying imports and exports.

The official also asked for the establishment of isolation wards for truck drivers who stay overnight in China. Meanwhile, those who enter China and return within a day, aside from health quarantine measures, should be made to wear protective gear, including suits, hats and gloves. Laissez-passers should be issued for only drivers, and no border residents are allowed to go to China to handle goods./.
