Timely detect and strictly handle cases of abetting smuggling

On the afternoon of July 14, the Steering Committee for Combating Against Smuggling, Commercial Fraud and Counterfeit Goods (the 389 Provincial Steering Committee) held a meeting to review the work of the first 6 months of 2022. In the first 6 months of 2022, the 389 Steering Committees at all levels focused on directing the implementation of the task of combating against smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeit goods. The functional forces detected and sanctioned 1,732 administrative violations, equaling 64.53% compared to the same period in 2021; the total amount of money for handling administrative violations is over 21.6 billion VND, equaling 55.04% over the same period.

In addition, the functional forces prosecuted 162 cases, 239 subjects. In which there were 2 cases with 10 people smuggled and illegally transported goods and currency across the border; 2 cases, 3 people transported, stored and traded firecrackers; 8 cases of forest destruction; 150 cases with 226 people transported, stored and traded drugs without the border involvement.

At the meeting, the delegates focused on discussing and evaluating the achieved results and shortcomings and limitations in the fight against smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeit goods in the first 6 months of 2022. At the same time, the delegates proposed solutions to overcome difficulties and improve the effectiveness of preventing smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeit goods in the last months of the year.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the 389 Steering Committee of  the province suggested that the departments, branches and members of the 389 Steering Committee at all levels continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the direction of the central and the province on the fight against smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeit goods; uphold the role and responsibility of the leader in anti-smuggling; promote political and ideological education, to promptly encourage the spirit of cadres, civil servants and soldiers who directly perform anti-smuggling tasks; promptly detect and strictly handle cases of abetting smuggling.

Relevant agencies coordinate with press and television agencies to promote propaganda and raise awareness of production and business organizations and individuals about the observance of law provisions; raise awareness for consumers to choose safe products with clear origin…

Relevant departments, sectors and units firmly grasp the local situation, strengthen patrols, strictly control border gates, trails on the border, warehouses and goods gathering points; continue to strengthen the management of the issuance, distribution and use of invoices; strengthen inspection and control of the market… Thereby, relevant departments, sectors and units continue to effectively implement the prevention and combat of smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeit goods.

At the conference, 3 groups and 6 individuals received certificates of merit from the National 389 Steering Committee for outstanding achievements in the fight against smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeit goods in 2021.
