Leaders of the Provincial People’s Committee received and worked with the delegation of the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Vietnam

On May 18, Mrs.Doan Thu Ha, Member of Standing Committee of Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of Provincial People’s Committee received, worked with the delegation of the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) in Vietnam led by Mr. Sengphet Houngboungnuang, Ambassador  Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao PDR in Vietnam.

Accompanying the delegation were representatives of leaders of the Vietnam – Laos Friendship Association and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations. Receiving the delegation were also representatives of leaders of some departments and sectors of the province.

Speaking at the meeting, The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao PDR in Vietnam expressed his pleasure to visit and work in the province. He affirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and Laos is a special relationship during the history of more than 60 years.

Along with that, the Ambassador highly appreciated the achievements in socio-economic development of the province over the past time. In particular, the Ambassador was very impressed with the results of import and export turnover through border gates in the province after the COVID-19 pandemic. He hoped that in the coming time, he would continue to enhance the friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam – Laos and Lang Son province with localities of Laos.

At the meeting, Mrs. Vice Chairwoman of the People’s Committee of Lang Son province expressed her pleasure when the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao PDR in Vietnam visited and worked in the province. The Vicechairman emphasized: this is a very meaningful activity in the context that the past 2022 is the year of solidarity and friendship between Vietnam – Laos, Laos – Vietnam, The two countries have just organized many practical activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Vietnam – Laos and Laos – Vietnam.

The Vicechairwoman shared: Lang Son is a mountainous border province with over 231.74 km of border border with Guangxi – China. The whole province has 2 international border gates, 1 bilateral border gate and 9 auxiliary border gates. In recent years, Lang Son province has achieved many important results in socio-economic development. In the first quarter of 2023, the socio-economic situation continued to have positive changes in all fields, higher than the average growth rate of the whole country; GRDP value at current prices is 9,422 billion VND…

From the tradition of good relations between Vietnam and Laos, despite being a province located relatively far from Laos, however, in recent years, Lang Son province always attaches importance to and wishes to develop exchange and cooperation relations with localities of Laos.

The Vicechairwoman hoped that through this visit and work, the Ambassador would be a bridge between the province and the localities of Laos; at the same time, he will introduce large businesses and investors of Laos as well as other countries to learn and invest in the province. She also hoped that in the coming time, the two sides would continue to pay attention to and promote exchanges and cooperation, and continue to cultivate a more and more solid relationship between the two Parties and States.

Earlier, in the morning of the same day, the delegation of the Embassy of the Lao PDR in Vietnam visited and conducted a field survey at Huu Nghi International Border Gate and Tam Thanh Pagoda.
