Lang Son continues to synchronously take action to combat smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods

(LSO) – In the afternoon of December 23, 2020, the Steering Board against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods (Steering Board 389) of the province held a conference to reflect on the work done in 2020 and provide directions and tasks for the year 2021. The conference was chaired by Mr. Luong Trong Quynh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Board 389.

In 2020 the functional forces of Lang Son already checked and handled 5,347 violations, accounting for nearly 85% compared to that in the year 2019. The total value of forfeited infringing goods was nearly 32 billion VND, making up 75.38%. compared to that in 2019. The total amount of money collected from administrative violations was nearly 81 billion VND. 370 cases with 549 subjects were prosecuted by local authorities.

However, the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeiting in the year was hindered by several limitations that needed to be solved in the future. Firstly, the control of e-commerce business activities on the domestic market were not completely controlled; Secondly, the status of using sale invoices to circulate manufactured goods outside of Vietnam were remaining; Thirdly, the situation of using postal services, express delivery services to transport smuggled goods deep inland was difficult to control.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee requested that in the coming time, especially on the occasion of New Year’s Eve 2021, related departments, branches, members of the Provincial Steering Board of 389, the Steering Committee Panels 389 in districts and cities continue to synchronously implement measures to inspect and control, fight against smuggling, counterfeiting and banned goods; organize checking-points along border trails and in key areas in order to thoroughly prevent smuggling and illegal entry and exit; to closely monitor imported goods, goods temporarily imported for re-export through the border gates; grasping areas intensively, proactively prevent and fight with smugglers, trade frauds, counterfeit goods, banned goods; continue to increase control over circulation; strictly manage the use of invoices and vouchers of commercial organizations and individuals in the province in order to effectively prevent fraud about the origin of goods and goods prices stated in invoices.

He emphasized that the concerned  and related departments and branches need to closely coordinate with each other in order to carry out effective measures to stabilize goods and avoid a shortage of goods, especially critical consumer goods; intensify propaganda activities to business organizations and individuals about the importance of observing  the state law in commercial business.
