Leaders of the Provincial People’s Committee inspect the vaccination against COVID-19 in Lang Son city and Bac Son district

On the afternoon of August 23, the delegation of the Provincial People’s Committee led by Mr. Ho Tien Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee inspected the vaccination against COVID-19 in Lang Son city.

According to the report of the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control (Steering Committee) of Lang Son City, as of August 23, the rate of 1st and 2nd injections for people at 18 year old and older has reached 100%, the rate of the 3rd injection has reached 92.54%, that of the 4th injection has reached 68% of the total number of subjects expected to be injected. For people from 12 to 17 years old, the rate of 1st and 2nd injections was approximately 100%, that of the 3rd injection has been 38.36%; the rate of 1st injection for children from 5 to under 12 years old has reached 76.29%, the rate of 2nd injection has been 47.77%. When the rate of vaccination for target groups is not high, Steering Committee of the city admitted that it was its responsibility and it was determined to direct and accelerate the progress in the coming time.

Concluding the inspection, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee said that the vaccination against COVID-19 in the city showed signs of slowdown, without great attention in the prevention of COVID-19 pandemic in general and vaccination in particular.

The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee requested that by August 30, 2022, Lang Son city must complete the 4th dose of vaccination for eligible subjects aged 18 years or older, the third dose for children from 12 to 17 years old and the second dose for children from 5 to under 12 years old. To accomplish the above task, he suggested Lang Son city do better propaganda work; improve the roles and responsibilities of the Steering Committees at all levels, promote the activities of the community COVID team. The City’s Health Center must well carry out the vaccination, arrange scientific, reasonable and safe injection locations. Schools in the city must be responsible for reviewing all vaccinated and unvaccinated cases and provide the latter timely vaccination.

The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee also requested Department of Health to avoid shortage of medical supplies and COVID-19 vaccine; to strengthen professional guidance for units on vaccination and COVID-19 prevention. The Department of Information and Communications was also required to direct communication agencies and units to increase propaganda with diverse contents and forms to raise and change people’s awareness about pandemic prevention and vaccination. The Department of Education and Training should direct units to promote propaganda on pandemic prevention in schools from the beginning of the new school year; closely coordinate with the Department of Health in opening safe and effective injection sites at schools.

According to the report, the District Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control has focused on leading, directing, and implementing a strict and drastic implementation of effective COVID-19 vaccination, in which attention was given to the elderly, people with underlying diseases, people who cannot walk, people with difficult circumstances… Fixed and mobile injection sites are arranged in a scientific, safe, effective and flexible manner for timely and correct vaccination. By the time of inspection, the whole district had 13,743 people aged 18 and older who had received the 4th dose, reaching 76.2% of the total number of subjects who were given priority to receive the 4th injection; the rate of children from 12 to 18 years old who received the 1st injection was 99.98%, that of those receiving the 2nd injection was 95.44%, that of those receiving the 3rd dose was 55.84%; the percentage of children from 5 to under 12 years old who received the first dose was 100%, and that of those receiving the second dose was 63.99%.

At the inspection, the delegates focused on discussing and clarifying difficulties and problems and discussing solutions to better implement COVID-19 vaccination in the district, such as asking relevant agencies to update and review statistics on vaccination; speeding up the vaccination schedule for children from 5 to under 18 years old…

Concluding at the inspection, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee suggested Bac Son district not to be subjective in pandemic prevention; maintain the motto “Going to every alley, knocking every house, checking every object”; promote information and propaganda in many means and methods; regularly publicize vaccination rates in the district; review the specific plan and progress on vaccination implementation; ensure adequate supply of drugs and equipment according to different levels; make payment and provide timely welfare for the staff in charge of pandemic prevention in accordance with regulations.

During the program, the delegation inspected two injection sites in Bac Son town and Long Dong commune.
