Launching ceremony of “March in border areas” program at the central level in 2023

On the morning of March 3, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Federation (VYF) held the launching ceremony of the program “March in border areas – Border of my Fatherland” at the central level at Chi Ma border gate, Loc Binh district, Lang Son province. This is one of three provinces (Quang Tri, Kien Giang, Lang Son) that the Central Committee of VYF organized this program.

Attending the ceremony, from central level, there were Major General Nguyen Anh Tuan, Political Commissar of the Vietnam Border Guard Command; Nguyen Ngoc Luong, Standing Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Federation.

From Lang Son province, there were Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Hoang Van Nghiem; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Ho Tien Thieu; Member of Standing Committee of Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of Provincial People’s Council Doan Thi Hau; Member of Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Commission for Mass Mobilization of Provincial Party Committee Giap Thi Bac; Member of Standing Committee of Provincial Party Committee, Head of Information Dissemination and Education Commission Phung Quang Hoi; Member of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairwoman of the Provincial VYF Dinh Thi Anh Thu; leaders of a number of departments and sectors of the province together with border guards, Youth Union members, young people, students and people of Loc Binh district.

Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, Chairman of the VYF Nguyen Ngoc Luong emphasized: “The program “March in border areas” is one of the activities to concretize the movement “I love my Fatherland” by the Central Committee of the VYF from March 1 to March 31 every year in border communes across the country, especially in disadvantaged border communes. In 2023, with the theme “Border of my Fatherland”, the program “March in border areas” focuses on popularizing 3 groups of key contents by the Federation at all levels, its members and young people, including activities of gratitude, exchange, discussion, twinning and visit between the Youth Union, Youth Federation, their members, young people and veterans, officers and soldiers of border guard force.

The program “March in border areas” is a practical activity and it concretizes the movement “I love my Fatherland”, the campaign “The love of the border and islands”. It helps educate and provides information in the community, youth union members, youth federation members, young people, about border,  the glorious tradition of generations of Vietnamese youth in the national construction and defense, the tradition of “Repaying gratitude”, “While drinking water, think of its source” of the nation… thereby, it contributes to raising awareness and actions of youth union and federation members and young people in the province, contributing to the protection of national sovereignty, security and border.

At the ceremony, the Central Committee of VYF presented 50 gifts to victims of Agent Orange/dioxin poisoning; 1,000 national flags to households living in bordering communes; 20 gifts to policy families with difficult circumstances in Loc Binh district; 40 scholarships to ethnic minority students who have difficult circumstances; supported to build 2 projects including “Beautiful school for children” in Ai Quoc commune and Huu Lan commune, Loc Binh district with the value of 400 million VND.

At the same time, on this occasion, the Central Committee of the VYF provided financial support to build 4 border patrol routes in border districts worth 400 million VND; presented 90 gifts to support the adopted children at the Border Guard Stations and the provincial project “Helping the children to school”; supported the construction of 2 Happy Houses for 2 orphans and disadvantaged students in Khanh Xuan commune and Dong Quan commune, Loc Binh district (worth 80 million VND/house); awarded 2 “Computers for children” rooms Van Mong Primary and Secondary School and Tinh Bac Semi-boarding Ethnic Secondary and High School in Loc Binh district (valued from 70 to 100 million VND/computer room, 10 computers/each room); The National Volunteer Center supported a project “The space for reading, interaction and team activities for Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization” for students in Loc Binh district worth 200 million VND; awarded a livelihood model to people in border areas worth 100 million VND. In addition, Saccombank, Freshdi Vietnam Joint Stock Company also supported the construction of the Community Cultural House and supported the development of a portal to promote, introduce and connect Lang Son youth start-up products.

After the opening ceremony, at the border of Loc Binh district, 9 programs “Steps for the community” were simultaneously started with 3 activities including Mobile medical examination and drug distribution program; Inauguration of the branch road to the landmark 1218; Construction of a number of welfare works, “Happy House”, kindergarten, visits and gifts to a number of policy households and poor households in the area.
