Trade unions at all levels: Pay attention to a happy Tet for trade union members and workers

With the motto “Any union members and workers can have a happy Tet”, at this time, trade unions at all levels in the province have been implementing activities to create a comfortable Tet for workers with the desire to helping those with difficult circumstances celebrate a traditional Tet with prosperity and happiness.

The leader of the Provincial Confederation of Labor presents Tet gifts to trade union members and workers with difficult circumstances on the occasion of Lunar New Year, the year of the Dragon 2024

On January 12, at Bao Long Company Limited (Cao Loc district), 100 workers with difficult circumstances at businesses in the province received Tet gifts from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor with total value of 130 million VND. Ms. Dinh Thi Linh, worker of Chi Le Co., Ltd., Cao Loc district, said: “Knowing that I am a single mother with a hard life, the company’s trade union asked for me an opportunity to receive a Tet gift worth 1.3 million VND (1 million VND in cash, 300 thousand VND in gifts). I am very delight because the gift has somehow helped me reduce my burden during preparing for the upcoming Lunar New Year.”

On the occasion of the 2023 Lunar New Year, trade unions at all levels received and coordinated to visit and present gifts to over 29,000 workers with a total value of over 15.7 billion VND (including cash and in kind). The Provincial Confederation of Labor successfully organized the program “Tet Market of Trade Union ” associated with the program “Tet reunion – Spring cohesion” attracting over 10,000 workers and people to participate with a revenue of over 2 billion VND…

 

Next, from January 15 to February 7, the “Tet Market of Trade Union” was officially opened. Especially, this is the first year it is opened online on e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Tiki… with unlimited number of items. In the province, 2,000 workers were given shopping coupons at preferential prices, each worth 300,000 VND to shop at the online “2024 Tet Market of Trade Union” organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Trade uion members will use these coupons to pay on e-commerce platforms when purchasing necessary items on demand at preferential prices. In addition, other trade union members can shop on these e-commerce platforms at preferential prices when using the code “Tet Market of Trade Union” that has been integrated in the Voucher of the application.

In addition to “Tet Market of Trade Union” program, at this time, the Provincial Confederation of Labor and that of districts and Lang Son city are also preparing Tet support programs for trade union members. Ms. Be Thi Hoa, Preseident of the Provincial Confederation of Labor, said: “Implementing the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Provincial Party Committee on organizing activities to take care of the Lunar New Year, the year of the Dragon 2024, the Provincial Confederation of Labor has developed a plan to trade unions at all levels to effectively organize practical material and spiritual support activities for the workers. At the same time, we have encouraged trade unions at all levels in the province to proactively coordinate with local party committees, authorities, organizations, businesses and benefactors to donate and take care of workers during Tet holiday in various forms. In addition, trade unions at all levels also focus on reviewing and ensuring that the right groups of workers in difficult circumstances can receive support.

Up to now, the Provincial Federation of Labor has reviewed and confirmed nearly 4,000 trade union members in difficult circumstances and orphans of trade union members who need support on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024. Among them, 2,000 trade union members received vouchers for the “Tet Market of Trade Union ” program worth a total of 600 million VND. Over 2,000 union workers and orphans of trade union members will be given gifts (each from 500 thousand VND to 1.3 million VND) with a total value of over 1 billion VND in the program ” Reuniting Tet – Sharing Spring” organized by the Provincial Federation of Labor (held on January 26) and superior unions from now until before the Lunar New Year. In addition, the Provincial Federation of Labor will visit and present gifts to 15 or more businesses before, during and after the Lunar New Year…

Along with the programs and activities of higher-level trade unions, these days, many grassroots unions have been carrying out meaningful activities to support workers with difficult circumstances. Mr. Nguyen Anh Tai, Deputy Director, Chairman of the Trade Union of Lang Son Customs Department said: “Continuing to presenting Tet gifts to trade union members, first started on the Lunar New Year of the Cat, at the end of 2023, we have encourage trade union members to donate at least 100,000 VND per person, seeking labor union members with difficult circumstances in the unit. We will use the money donated will be Tet gifts to more than 40 trade union members with difficult circumstances in the unit with a total value of nearly 50 million VND during the Lunar New Year of the Dragon 2024…”

Tet support activities of trade unions at all levels for workers are implemented in many different forms, affirming the role and responsibility of trade unions in taking care of workers during Tet; thereby contributing to encouraging and sharing  with workers in difficult circumstances, help them to enjoy a warm and happy traditional Lunar New Year with their family and relatives, strengthening the trust of workers in trade unions.
