The Opening Ceremony of Mau Son Tourism Festival in 2020

(LSO) – On July 4, at Mau Son National Tourism Area, the Department of Culture – Sports and Tourism (DOCST) held the opening ceremony of Mau Son Tourism Festival in 2020 and 60th establishment anniversary of the Vietnamese tourism sector (July 9, 1960 – July 9, 2020).
Attending the opening ceremony were: Mr. Hoang Van Nghiem, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Mr. Nguyen Long Hai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee; leader of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism – Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of departments and sectors of the province, leaders of People’s Committees of districts, city and numerous people and tourists from across the country.

Mau Son Tourism Festival this year takes place from July 4 – 9, 2020. The highlight of the Festival is the Marathon competition to conquer Mau Son peak with the participation of more than 300 athletes from all over the country and the presence of two famous athletes who won a gold medal at the SEA games 30.
In addition, the Festival also has many unique cultural and sports activities such as Tay, Nung and Dao ethnic cultural exchange programs; Photo exhibition and display of Lang Son cultural heritage; Mau Son highland fair space, the six-spur-cockfight and Lay co competition, the traditional Mau Son liquor making demonstration and so on.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee affirmed that Mau Son area is a potential tourist destination of the province with beautiful natural scenery, unique cultural values, many rare products, and cuisine.

With these conditions and potential for tourism development, on February 20, 2017, the Prime Minister approved the master plan for development of Mau Son National Tourism Area, Lang Son province till 2030. Currently, to implement the approved plan, the Provincial People’s Committee has directed the sectors to actively advise the implementation of the plan, accompany the investor of Mau Son Sun Co., Ltd. to soon start and put into operation the Ecotourism Complex Project and Mau Son cable car.

Also at the opening ceremony, the Provincial People’s Committee announced and awarded the decision to recognize the province’s new tourist destination for the two relics of Chua Tien – Gieng Tien, Lang Son city and Dang Mo waterfall, Binh Gia district.
On this occasion, the Director of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented certificates of merit to 10 collectives and 5 individuals who actively contributed to the development of the provincial tourism sector.
Lots of tourists from all over the world attended Mau Son Tourism Festival
The opening ceremony of Mau Son Tourism Festival in 2020 and the 60th establishment anniversary of Vietnam’s tourism sector is one of the activities in response to the program promoting domestic tourism “Vietnamese travel in Vietnam”, progressing to the 17th Lang Son Provincial Party Congress.
This is also an activity to continue to stimulate and promote Mau Son’s potentials and strengths, so that Mau Son in particular and Xu Lang in general will become an attractive tourist destination and increasingly attract tourists.
