Lang Son province opens refresher course for local officials

(LSO) – The Lang Son provincial Party Committee coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) opened on October 22 a refresher course for officials under the management of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee.

The course’s opening ceremony was attended by HCMA Deputy Director Nguyen Viet Thao; Standing Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council and head of the course’s steering board Hoang Van Nghiem; along with officials of local Party units, departments and sectors, and 156 participants in the course.

During the refresher course, the participants will look into 10 topics lectured by professors, associate professors and doctors from the HCMA, universities, ministries and central agencies.

The course focuses on the reform of theoretical mindset in the face of new tasks and the new context; late President Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts about the prevention of and fight against the degradation of ideology, politics, morality and lifestyle, along with “self-evolution” and “self-transformation”; the reform and re-organisation of the political system towards a lean, efficient and effective apparatus; and the development of Vietnamese culture amid international integration.

Other topics include the reform of growth model and the restructuring of the agriculture and rural development sector in Lang Son; the development of the private economic sector, barrier removal, and practices in Lang Son; Vietnam – China relations in the new context, Vietnam’s new vision and reaction; the sharing economy in the digital era in Vietnam; leaders and managers’ capacity of assigning tasks and delegating power in public organisations and administrative personnel management; cyber security and the combat against hi-tech crime in Vietnam.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Standing Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Hoang Van Nghiem asked the participants to stay focused so as to grasp all the knowledge while actively discussing new and difficult issues directly relevant to the implementation of tasks at their localities and agencies.

He also told them to creatively apply the knowledge to their work to fulfil assigned duties, thus joining hands with the Party organisations and people to achieve all targets of the province.

The refresher course is scheduled to last through October 26.
