Conference promotes tourism in Vietnam’s six northern provinces and China’s Guangxi

(LSO) – A conference took place in Lang Son city, the capital of Lang Son province, on November 4 to promote tourism linkages among Vietnam’s six northern provinces (known as Viet Bac) and China’s Guangxi province.

 The event was held on the sidelines of the “Through Viet Bac Heritage Sites” programme underway in Lang Son on November 3 – 5.

Present at the conference were Vice Chairman of the Lang Son People’s Committee Duong Xuan Huyen and Deputy Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ngo Hoai Chung.

In his opening remarks, Huyen said the conference provides an opportunity for Viet Bac provinces to promote local tourism products and for experts and travel agencies to discuss and seek ways to cooperate and develop linkages in the field, turning the region into an attractive, friendly destination to both domestic and foreign visitors.

He also expected to enhance tourism cooperation between Lang Son and Pingxiang, Guangxi.

Representatives from Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Viet Bac provinces delivered presentations on tourism development and cooperation in the region. They also introduced tourism potential and products of the six provinces and suggested how the sides can partner in develop new products to make the most of their potentials.

Chung, for his part, spoke highly of the nature and tourism potentials of the Viet Bac provinces. He expected each province to promote selective specialty products and focus more on collaborating with local companies to develop human resources for the industry.

In addition, he urged the provinces to adopt incentives to lure more investors in tourism, develop a shared tourism information database and accelerate promotion of their tourism products in other cities and provinces./.
