Closing ceremony of the teaching class and the establishment of the Nung ethnic lion dance team in Gia Cat commune, Cao Loc district

On October 1, the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a closing ceremony for the Nung ethnic lion dance class in Hop Tan village, Gia Cat commune, Cao Loc district.

In 3 months, from July 2, 2023 to September 18, 2023, 22 students who are residents of Gia Cat commune were taught practical skills by artisans and performed a number of rituals, games, and lion dances of the Nung ethnic group.

Here, the students reported their learning results through 13 unique performances such as: Dancing to worship the gods, festival joyful dancing, bare-handed martial arts dancing, stick dancing, trident dancing, table dancing, fire ring dancing…

On this occasion, leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented 2 sets of lion and cat dance props to the People’s Committee of Gia Cat commune, Cao Loc district.

This is one of the key contents selected and organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2023 to implement the Project “Preserving and promoting the value of the Lion Dance heritage of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups in Lang Son province in the period of 2021 – 2030”.

The teaching class not only contributes to forming and improving the quality of activities, practical skills, and performing lion and cat dances in the community but also form new cultural – tourism products, better serving the needs of tourists coming to Cao Loc.
