Opening a class on embroidery and brocade weaving of Nung Phan SLinh ethnic group in Hai Yen commune, Cao Loc district

On the morning of August 3, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Culture and Information Division of Cao Loc district and the People’s Committee of Hai Yen commune to open a class to teach embroidery and brocade weaving of the Nung Phan SLinh (Nung Cum Cot) ethnic group in Hai Yen commune, Cao Loc district.

The artisan demonstrates traditional weaving techniques

The class for embroidery and brocade weaving attracted 28 students, who are all Nung Phan SLinh (Nung Cum Cot) ethnic in the area. During a month, they learned about traditional weaving, brocade weaving techniques and were instructed to practice embroidering motifs on traditional costumes, headscarves, bags and some souvenir products.

After the opening ceremony, the students were equipped with tools and materials and immediately started studying under the guidance of local artisans and skilled workers.

The opening of the class on embroidery and brocade weaving promptly meets the people’s expectations, thereby, preserving and promoting the cultural identities of ethnic minorities associated with linking and promoting tourism activities of the province.

This is also an activity that contributes to the implementation of the Plan No. 26/KH-SVHTTDL dated February 12, 2023 of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the implementation of sub-projects No. 6 under the National target program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in 2023.
