The leader of the Provincial People’s Committee inspected the plantations, production and processing facilities of macadamia in the province

– On the afternoon of July 13, the delegation of the Provincial People’s Committee led by Mr. Luong Trong Quynh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, inspected and surveyed a number of plantations, macadamia seed production facilities, and macadamia nut processing facilities in the city and districts of Cao Loc, Chi Lang.

According to a report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, at present, the area of ​​macadamia trees in the whole province is about 270 hectares, concentrated in the districts of Cao Loc, Loc Binh and Van Lang. The sources of macadamia varieties grown by businesses and households include QN, QN1, H2, A38, A16… originating from Australia and China. Currently, the whole province has 4 nurseries producing macadamia varieties with a total production scale of about 170,000 trees/year and 4 processing facilities with a capacity of 180-190 tons/year.

During the inspection, the delegation visited the leading plantation of the Northeast Forest Seed Joint Stock Company at Van Linh Experimental Camp (Khoai Cu village, Van Linh commune, Chi Lang district); macadamia plantation of Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung’s household (Na Tha village, Yen Trach commune, Cao Loc district); and Hoang Lien MC Company Limited Company and Lang Son Macadamia and Sachi Joint Stock Company (Lang Son city). In which, the delegation inspected and surveyed such contents as the area, planting technique and care of macadamia; seedling production process and quality; production and processing process of macadamia nuts; economic efficiency from macadamia trees for households…

After visiting and surveying plantations, macadamia seed production facilities and macadamia nut processing facilities, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee suggested the specialized agencies survey and evaluate the economic efficiency of macadamia tree; the suitability of macadamia trees with the province’s soil and climate conditions for consideration, development of projects and identification of macadamia plantation areas in the province. At the same time, it was necessary to focus on the management and development of seedling production; technical guidance on planting and caring for macadamia trees; introduce the market, consume macadamia products.
