Paying salary through bank account: Improving the efficiency of non-cash payment

– In recent years, commercial banks have developed more modern services that have gradually changed the traditional form of salary payment. Many agencies, units and businesses in the province have used the salary payment service through bank accounts, thereby, contributing to improving the efficiency of non-cash payment.

At Lang Son Vinmart supermarket, over the years, 100% of the supermarket’s employees have been paid through bank accounts. Mr. Le Quang Thuan, Supermarket Director said: “From 2018 to now, the supermarket has applied the salary payment service package through the Technical and Commercial Joint Stock Bank, Lang Son branch (Techcombank Lang Son). Paying salary through the bank account helps the unit save time and costs. Every month, employees do not have to queue to sign for salary. In addition, when paying salary via card, employees use electronic payment applications for shopping and consumption.”

Not only at Vinmart supermarket, in recent years, many agencies, units and businesses in the province have started using the salary payment service via bank accounts. With this method, units only need to register to open an account for employees at the bank. When the payroll is transferred to the bank, the bank will automatically record and transfer the corresponding salary to each employee’s account. Currently, the whole province has 15 commercial banks, according to which, most of the banks provide this service and offer many methods to encourage customers to use the service.

Ms. Dinh Thi Hong Giang, Head of Service and Marketing Department, Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Lang Son Branch (Agribank Lang Son) said “Units that register to use the payroll service through a bank account will be free to open an account. At the same time, when performing transactions such as transferring money at ATMs, on banking applications, and paying bills, the service is free. To date, the total number of cards issued by the bank is 245,669 cards. The number of units that have signed a contract with the bank to pay salaries through their accounts is 1,363 units, an increase of 9 units compared to December 31, 2020. The amount of salary paid in the first 5 months of 2021 is more than 1,394 billion VND.”

In addition to using the card to withdraw money at ATMs, card users can also buy prepaid cards for mobile phones, transfer payments for electricity and water bills, transfer money to other people or pay for goods at places that accept POS cards…

With such facilities, up to now, the total number of units that have signed a contract with the bank to pay salaries through their accounts is 1,703 units (with some units signing salary contracts with many banks) (in which salary from the State budget is 1,524 units, other businesses and units are 179 units). From the beginning of 2021 to now, the number of units that have paid salary through their accounts is 1,527 units.

According to the leader of the State Bank of the province, in the coming time, the unit will continue to direct commercial banks in the area to pay attention to investing in the application of new technology to secure customer information, monetary security for customers. online transactions; focus on investing in developing infrastructure and network services of ATMs, POS; strengthen propaganda on card payment, promote add-on services of ATMs and POS machines so that people understand the modern features of card products, help people understand the Government’s policies on non-cash payment activities, ensuring the interests of the bank and customers.

To meet the demand for convenient, fast, efficient and safe payment services, commercial banks in the area have increased investment in infrastructure development and expanded ATM networks to all districts in the province. Up to now, the province has 84 ATMs, an increase of 5 machines compared to December 31, 2020; total number of issued cards is 422,519 cards. In addition, banks have installed 366 POS machines at mall centers, hotels, restaurants, fashion shops, etc. Thereby, creating favorable conditions for units to pay salaries through accounts to perform services. utility payments.
