Provincial leader inspects implementation of local important projects

(LSO) – Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Ngoc Thuong on September 11 inspected the implementation of the cargo transshipment project and infrastructure development of Processing Zone No.1 in the Dong Dang-Lang Son border gate economic zone.

The cargo transshipment zone covers Phu Xa and Thuy Hung communes in Cao Loc district. As a total of 53 hectares of local land were revoked for the project, 12 households had to move out. Besides, the projects also affected lives of other 109 households.

To date, the People’s Committee of Cao Loc district has approved an indemnification plan for 86 out of the 109 households with 38.47 hectares in land and 43.4 billion VND (1.87 million USD) in cash.

Meanwhile, the infrastructure development at Processing Zone No.1 affected 285 households, and nearly 117 hectares in Phu Xa, Hong Phong, and Thuy Tung communes in Cao Loc district were used for this project.

At the inspection, branches, sectors, Cao Loc district People’s Committee and communes focused on addressing challenges arising during the implementation of the projects, and give recommendations to step up the construction.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Ngoc Thuong asked Lang Son Cargo Transshipment Joint Stock Company to get construction permit soon, begin construction on the allotted land before October 15, and coordinate with Cao Loc district in site clearance work.

The district People’s Committee must enhance the communication work, encourage local households to accept adequate compensation and move out to make way for the project, he said, adding due attention should be paid to accelerate land clearance.

Regarding infrastructure development at Processing Zone 1, the Military Petrochemical Joint Stock Company should join hands with the district People’s Committee, branches and sectors to complete construction and investment procedures, including transport infrastructure, resettlement area and residential area, as well as have plan to compensate affected households.

Thuong also asked the district People’s Committee to shorten the time to approve detailed planning for residential area and processing zone, and direct the compensation board to support resettlement work.

In addition, the provincial Department of Transport was urged to join hands with competent authorities to complete a road linking Processing Zone No.1 to National Road 1B.
