Efforts to introduce electricity to difficult areas

Over the past time, with the efforts of all levels, sectors and the power industry, with many sources of capital, many new projects and works to build and renovate the power grid system have been implemented, especially those in extremely difficult and remote areas of the province.

Phai Vai is one of the two most difficult villages in Loi Bac commune, Loc Binh district. The village is 9 km from the commune center, households have not yet accessed to the national power grid. From the capital from the project of Rural power supply from the national grid with investment phase in 2022-2023, Loc Binh Electricity and the construction unit have connected more than 8 km of medium voltage lines and installed 1 new transformer station with a capacity of 50 kVA to supply electricity to 112 households in the village.

People in Phai Vai village, Loi Bac commune (Loc Binh) are happy to receive electricity from the national grid

As one of the first households to be connected to the national grid to light their house, Mrs. To Thi Thanh (Phai Vai village) is very happy. Ms. Thanh said: “For many years, my family had to use kerosene lamps for lighting. Now we can have electricity. Thank you to the Party, State and the electricity industry for connecting the national grid to us…”

In additional to 112 households in Phai Vai village, Loi Bac commune who have access to the national grid during this Lunar New Year 2023, more than 2,800 households of 91 villages and hamlets in extremely difficult areas of 27 communes in 7 districts in the province have also been connected to the national grid.

Mr. Hoang Van Chung, Vice Chairman of Binh Gia District People’s Committee said: “With the investment of the province and the electricity industry, in 2022, 21 villages with special difficulties in the district (4 villages of Mong An commune, 6 villages of Yen Lo province, 4 villages of Quy Hoa commune, 5 villages of Hung Dao district and 2 villages of Thien Hoa district) have access to the national grid, helping people improve their lives.”

Up to now, there is no village and hamlet without electricity from the national grid. Talking to leaders of Lang Son Power Company, it is known that, with various capital sources, over the years, the power industry, along with the authority of province, districts and Lang Son city have focused on investing in electricity projects. Among them, the outstanding project is the rural power supply project from the national grid, through which, the power system has reached all remote villages, hamlets and extremely difficult areas of the province. In the period of 2015 – 2020, the company has newly built 59,443 km of medium voltage lines, 21 transformer stations, 141,411 km of low voltage lines, with a total investment of 120,557 billion VND. In the investment phase in 2021, Lang Son Power Company has built 26 new transformer stations with a capacity of 1,525 kVA, 66,515 km of medium voltage lines, 151,737 km of low voltage lines, with a total investment of 141,748 billion VND; in 2022, it built a new 35 kV overhead transmission line, with a total length of 89,721 km, 37 new transformer stations with a total capacity of 2,231.5 kVA, renovated and built 325,283 km of a 0.4 kV line, in which connected new 297,437 km. Thereby, it has helped the rate of using the national grid in the province to 98.9% currently.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Minh, Director of Lang Son Power Company said: “Thanks to the timely implementation of appropriate solutions for each working group and work item, the investment and construction activities of the Rural Power Supply project from the national grid of Lang Son province has reached the finish line 1 year earlier than planned. The special thing is that the connection to national grid of the villages and hamlets is on Lunar New Year 2023, thereby contributing to creating joy and warmth in this spring.

It is known that although the grid power system has reached all villages and hamlets of the province, due to the terrain, at this time, there are still some households that have not been able to use electricity in their houses. In order for all of them to have electricity from the national grid, in 2023, Lang Son province will continue to implement the Rural Power Supply Scheme with a budget of about 400 billion VND. It is hoped that with the close direction of the Provincial People’s Committee, the efforts of departments, sectors, authorities at all levels, as well as the efforts of Lang Son electricity industry, 100% of households in extremely difficult areas will be able to use electricity from the national grid.
