Preparations for provincial congress of ethnic minority groups under inspection

(LSO) – A meeting was held on October 10 to inspect preparations for the third provincial congress of representatives of ethnic minority groups, under the chair of Pham Ngoc Thuong, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

The meeting was also attended by Duong Xuan Huyen, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the steering committee for the ethnic minority congress, and other members of the steering committee.

At the event, the head of the provincial committee for ethnic affairs reported on the organization of district- and town-level congresses of ethnic minority groups, and preparatory work for the provincial congress made so far.

He said district- and town-level congresses have basically been held on schedule and met requirements on quality. Those congresses have honoured and awarded 179 collectives and 272 individuals, and selected 170 representatives to the provincial congress.

The sub-committee for the provincial congress’s documents has received recommendations on the draft Political Report and Letter of Resolve to be submitted to the provincial congress. The sub-committee has also made adjustments to the detailed programmes for the preparatory session and the official session of the congress, along with other work items.

The music programme to welcome the congress will comprise of six items, and artists are training hard for the performance.

On the eve of the congress, there will be a dialogue between leaders of the provincial administration and the provincial committee for ethnic affairs and representatives from outstanding ethnic minority collectives and individuals.

Plans on security, health care, decorations, displays of products, filming documentaries and communication activities before and after the congress are being implemented on schedule.

Members of the steering committee and organizing committee of the provincial congress voiced their opinions on preparatory work, focusing on awareness campaigns, delegates’ costumes, list of guests, the displays of goods, gifts for delegates, among others.

Concluding the meeting, the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee acknowledged the efforts of those involved in preparations for the congress. He made the final decision that the congress will be held on November 25 and 26, 2019.
