Lang Son: meeting discusses nCoV prevention work with Chinese partner

(LSO) – The border guard unit at the Huu Nghi (Friendship) International Border Gate in Cao Loc district, Lang Son province, and the Chongzuo Border Management Detachment under the Guangxi General Station of Immigration Inspection of China on February 8 held talks on the situation of the acute respiratory disease cause by the novel coronavirus (nCoV) and precautions to ensure safety in repatriating and receiving Vietnamese and Chinese citizens through the border gate.

Amid concerns about the complicated development of the nCoV-caused epidemic, the two sides agreed to regular exchange relevant information, enhance patrols and prevent illegal cross-border transportation of people, vehicles, goods, wild animals, and other sources that can transmit the disease.

Representatives from Lang Son’s border guard force (Vietnam) present medical face masks to the Chongzuo Border Management Detachment.

The two sides also agreed to notify each other when detecting and arresting citizens of the other country who make illegally exit or entry, and hand over to each other those citizens through the border gate or other designated areas along the borderline between the two countries.

Participants stressed that the two sides need to well conduct communication campaigns to raise awareness of people living along the shared border line about the epidemic’s dangers.

From February 2-8, 2020, the two sides handed over to each other 102 Vietnamese and six Chinese citizens who committed illegal entry and exit.

On the occasion , the provincial border guard force presented 10,000 medical face masks to the Chongzuo Border Management Detachment to support the unit in the fight against the nCoV./.
