A young man donates land twice to build a kindergarten

With enthusiasm and generosity, Mr. Nong Van Thieu, born in 1993, Khuoi Kiec village, Thien Long commune, Binh Gia district donated 3,000 m2 of land to build a kindergarten.

In the early days of January, we had the opportunity to visit Thien Long Kindergarten. The first image that appeared in front of our eyes was a spacious school with a large and clean campus. Few people know that, in the past, the school did not have this campus, the students had to study temporarily in the classes borrowed from the primary school. To share difficulties with the school, in 2012, the father of Nong Van Thieu donated more than 800 m2 of land to build 2 classrooms for Thien Long Kindergarten.

Later, when the number of students increased and the infrastructure could no longer meet the teaching and learning needs of teachers and students, the commune encourage Mr. Thieu’s family to donate land once again. Mr. Thieu shared: “Understanding the difficulties of students, I donated 3,000 m2 of land to build a kindergarten. Accordingly, in 2019, I donated 1,600 m2 of land. In 2021, I donated an additional 1,400 m2 of land for ancillary buildings. A spacious school creates the best condition for students. For a farmer like me, the land is as precious as gold but dedicating it to the homeland and the education of the commune makes me very happy.”

Indeed, an inch of land is an inch of gold, moreover, most of the land that Thieu donates is garden land, residential land, located near the center of the commune, close to the main road, convenient for traffic. The estimated value of the land donated by Mr. Thieu’s family is over VND 200 million, not including the annual income from valuable fruit trees on the garden land.

Ms. Hua Thi Duyen, Head of Thien Long Kindergarten said: “The entire infrastructure of the school was built on the donated land of Mr. Nong Van Thieu’s family. Currently, the school has 4 classrooms, 2 function rooms, a 2-storey administrative building and ancillary works, a kitchen, a playground for children… The contribution of Mr. Thieu’s family provides the school with the best conditions to serve the teaching and learning needs, gradually improving the quality of teaching, ensuring the comprehensive development of children.”

Not only is he a leader in the land donation movement, he is also considered by the local government as a person who enthusiastically participates in movements launched by villages and communes. In particular, he is also very active in coordinating with the Party Committee and authority in encouraging people to donate their land to build infrastructure works in the commune.

Mr. Dang Van Tien, Chairman of Thien Long Commune People’s Committee said: “With his social responsibility, when there is the policy of building and expanding the school area, Thieu did not hesitate to donate 3,000 m2 of land. His contribution did not only support the implementation of building new-styled countryside in his locality, but also devotes to the education of the commune, spreading the movement to build a learning society, helping children in difficult areas have the best condition to study and practice.”

With those contributions, for many years in a row, he has received certificates of merit from all levels and sectors. In October 2022, he was honored to receive a certificate of merit from the Binh Gia District Study Promotion Association for his outstanding achievements in study promotion, talent promotion, and building a learning society in the 2017-2022 period.
