Development of electronic payment accounts: Contribute to promoting cashless payment

In recent years, in order to promote cashless payments, commercial banks in the province have actively implemented and developed electronic payment accounts.

Currently, the trend of using electronic payment accounts is gradually popular in the province with many benefits. Forms of electronic payment include: payment by card, payment by e-wallet, payment via application… In fact, each form has its own outstanding advantages and depending on the needs and desires, users can choose the appropriate form to pay online for services such as transfer, deposit, withdraw money; pay electricity and water bills…

Mr. Nguyen The Huy, Director of Sacombank Lang Son said: In the coming time, the branch will continue to guide and propagate customers about utility products, cashless payment to create a diverse ecosystem, bringing maximum benefits to consumers. At the same time, the bank will create more diverse forms of electronic account opening such as free money transfer, refund for new customers, lucky draw …

Similarly, Commercial Joint Stock Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam Lang Son Branch (BIDV Lang Son) has actively implemented promotional programs for newly registered customers and customers using Digital banking services such as giving money to the account for new customers who register for the service, giving gifts to customers who have many transactions on digital channels, etc. Up to now, the branch has over 37,200 electronic payment accounts opened, accounting for 50.2% of the total number of customers; issued 43,600 ATM cards and 42 POS machines.

Hoang Van Huy, Deputy Director of BIDV Lang Son said: In the coming time, the branch will continue to improve service quality, diversify payment methods, and optimize utilities on payment channels; exemption and reduction of service charges on digital channels. The goal is that by 2025, 80% of customers can access and use BIDV’s digital channels.

Not only the above two banks, at present, all commercial banks in the province have strategies to promote the development of electronic payment accounts. According to statistics of the State Bank of Vietnam’s provincial branch, up to now, in Lang Son, the number of adults with electronic payment accounts is nearly 57%. The percentage of customers’ transactions made through digital channels (the communication channel between customers and banks with Internet connection) is about 48.84%. As of May 31, 2022, the province has 92 ATMs, mainly in Lang Son city. From the beginning of 2022 until now, the number of payment transactions via ATM is more than 1.4 billion transactions with a total value of over 4.1 trillion VND. The province currently has 433 POS machines with the total payments through POS machines from commercial banks accumulated since the beginning of the year is over 161 billion dong. Thereby, customers can make transactions quickly and conveniently.

Ms. Hoang Thi Kim Anh, Binh Gia town, Binh Gia district said: I have been using E-Mobile Baking service of Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam for about 3 years now. Due to busy daily work, I have little time to withdraw cash. Every time I use services such as eating, shopping, paying for electricity and water, I use my electronic account to pay. I find this service very convenient and fast because at any time of the day you can pay.

Ms. Truong Thu Hoa, Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Provincial Branch said, in the coming time, the branch will direct commercial bank branches in the area to apply suitable cashless payment products, convenient for customers in collecting and paying taxes, paying periodic bills, hospital fees, paying salaries and allowances from social insurance; organize propaganda on card payment and payment via POS in order to help people understand the Government’s policy on cashless payment activities, know the benefits of using services and encourage people to use the service and encourage people to make payment for goods and services through banks. The goal is that by 2025, 50% of people aged 15 and over will have a bank account.
