The Spectacular raft racing festival on Ky Cung River

On the morning of February 13 (January 23 of the Year of the Cat), in Lang Son city, the Organizing Committee for the celebration of the Party and  Lunar New Year 2023 held the opening ceremony of raft racing festival on Ky Cung river. This is one of a series of activities in the Culture – Sports and Tourism Week of Lang Son province in 2023.

Attending the event were Mr. Luong Trong Quynh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; representatives and leaders of a number of departments and sectors of the province, People’s Committees of districts and city.

This year’s raft racing festival attracted 17 racing teams from 10 districts and city with 68 athletes participated. Teams raft racing with a distance of 1,500m. The starting position starts at the river on the left of Ky Cung temple to the destination in the middle of Ky Cung bridge (10m from the bridge).

A lot of people attended the festival, created a joyful and vibrant atmosphere for the festival

Before reaching the finish line, each raft will rotate 3 times around the standard buoy (the mark for the raft to turn in the middle of the river, 20m from Dong Kinh bridge), then reach the finish line.

Mr. Luong Trong Quynh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented souvenir flags to the competition teams.

From the intense competitions and chases, the festival created a joyful and vibrant atmosphere and received enthusiastic cheers from locals and visitors.

At the end of the festival, the Organizing Committee awarded 2 first prizes to the competition team from Hong Phong commune, Binh Gia district and the Po Lan team, Quoc Viet commune, Trang Dinh district; no team won second place; 2 third prizes belonged to team Na Na, Quoc Viet commune, Trang Dinh district and team Diem He 1, Van Quan district; awarded 13 consolation prizes to the remaining teams.

Mr. Luong Trong Quynh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded the first prize and two third prizes to the teams with excellent achievements.

Through the festival, it contributes to promoting and introducing the ancient raft racing festival of agricultural residents along the banks of Ky Cung river.
