The Workshop to participate in building the Project of Lang Son Tourism Development to 2030

(LSO) – On the morning of October 29, 2020, the Provincial People’s Committee held a workshop to participate in building the Project of Lang Son Tourism Development to 2030. The workshop was attended by Mr. Hoang Van Nghiem, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Mrs. Doan Thi Hau, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Council; Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee; leaders of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; tourism research experts inside and outside the province.

Delivering opening remarks at the workshop, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee affirmed that with the goal of developing tourism in commensuration with the province’s potentials and strengths, making tourism an important economic sector by 2025 and a spearhead economic sector in 2030, the Provincial People’s Committee instructed Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to develop and submit to the Provincial People’s Committee to promulgate the Project of Lang Son Tourism Development to 2030. The Workshop is an opportunity to hear and absorb opinions of leading experts, who have expertise, experience and enthusiasm in tourism. Thereby, it contributes to specifically identifying orientations, tasks and major solutions to develop tourism and complete the Project of Lang Son Tourism Development to 2030.

At the Workshop, delegates watched a reportage on the current situation of the province’s tourism development in the 2010-2019 period. Accordingly, in recent years, tourism propaganda and promotion have been effectively implemented. Human resources for tourism have been gradually improved. Lang Son tourism has developed in terms of both the number of tourists, revenue and development of tourism products. In 2019, the total number of visitors reached 2,952,000 arrivals (an increase of 9.5% compared to 2018), revenue was 1,226 billion VND (an increase of 7.9% compared to 2018).

In the program, the delegates, tourism research experts made presentations, specifying factors directly affecting tourism, tasks and solutions for the province’s tourism to develop in commensuration with its potentials and advantages. Typical examples are Lang Son tourism brand positioning and tourism advertisement and promotion; analyzing target tourist markets and potential tourist markets; solutions to improve the quality of tourist accommodation establishments; promoting the development of high-quality tourism human resources and so on.

Speaking at the workshop, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council highly appreciated the opinions and presentations of experts and scientists. These opinions are oriented, the basis for the province to complete the tourism development project in the province.

He emphasized that developing tourism must pay attention to preserving and promoting Xu Lang’s good cultural and traditional identity, promoting the strength of relics, landscapes and environmental landscapes. Specialized levels and sectors are requested to receive comments to complete the Provincial Tourism Development Project; review investment resources, propose solutions to attract investment in tourism development; pay attention to developing high quality human resources; create conditions to guide and help businesses, investors to develop tourism and so forth.
