Lang Son granted amnesty to 23 prisoners on the occasion of National Day September 2

– On September 1, at Detention Center, the Provincial Police held a ceremony to announce the President’s Decision on amnesty for prisoners on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 2021).

Attending the announcement ceremony were Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; leaders of the Provincial Police, the Court, the Provincial People’s Procuracy.

Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and leaders of the Provincial Police, presented the President’s decision on amnesty to prisoners at the Provincial Police Detention Center.

During the program, the Provincial Police announced the President’s decision on special amnesty for 15 prisoners serving their sentences in the re-education camp of the Provincial Police’s  Detention Center. In addition,  8 inmates being in custody are granted special amnesty under the decision of the President.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee emphasized: Granting amnesty to prisoners is the leniency policy of the Party and State and the humanitarian tradition of the Vietnamese people towards offenders with the aim to encourage them to repent, practice, and become useful people to society.

He hoped that prisoners received amnesty to return to their localities must try their best to become honest citizens, live responsibly to the society, eliminate the feelings of guilt and the sense of inferiority, actively integrate into the community in order to make contribution to protecting the national security and local movements. To inmates who have not been granted amnesty on this occasion should make more efforts, strictly follow the prison rules, actively study, and work during the imprisonment in order to be granted amnesty by the Party and State in the soonest time.

He suggested: All levels, branches, party committees, and authorities of districts and Lang  Son city continue to monitor, support and create conditions for inmates who are granted amnesty to return to their normal life.
