– On September 5, 2021, more than 200,000 students in the province will join the opening ceremony of the new school year 2021-2022. Due to the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic, the education and training sector in the province determines to overcome difficulties and ensures the “dual goals” of effectively preventing and controlling the pandemic while well teaching and learning in the new situation.

Prioritizing pandemic prevention and control

The 2021-2022 school year is to continue in the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the first task that the provincial education and training sector sets out in the new school year is to well implement the goal of preventing and controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring safe schools and improving the quality of education.

In order to prepare for the new school year, in recent days, Khang Chien Primary School, Trang Dinh district has assigned staff and teachers to take turns cleaning the school campus, classrooms, teaching utensils and equipment. Ms Hoang Thi Thom, the school’s principal said: “In the new school year, the school has 9 classes with 207 students and 16 officials, teachers and staff. Ms. Nguyen Tuyet Chinh, the school’s principal said: “In the school year 2021 – 2022, the school has 12 classes with 345 students. As soon as the beginning of August 2021, the school has coordinated with the District Health Center to disinfecting the entire campus, especially in the kitchen, dormitory and classrooms, ensuring the safe conditions for students.”

Along with the preparation of schools, the Department of Education and Training also requires that when the school year comes, all activities with large crowds such as culture, art performance, physical training and sports at the beginning of the school year and extracurricular activities are temporary ceased except for teaching and learning. Thereby, it aims to protect the safety of teachers and students during the pandemic season, so that teachers and children can have good health and feel secure in teaching and learning.”

Determining to teach well – study well

To ensure the school year plan, the Department of Education and Training has directed units and schools to actively develop teaching plans when students cannot go to school. When the pandemic is complicated, schools will activate online teaching according to the program distribution framework of subjects in a reasonable and effective way. The teachers actively choose online teaching methods and tools, and at the same time, arrange the time to teach reasonable knowledge which is suitable to the conditions of each student in each unit.

At Van Lang High School, the preparation for the new school year has also been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in recent days. Mr. Mong Thanh Thuy, the school’s principal said: “This school year, the whole school has 28 classes with more than 1,000 students (including Hoi Hoan school site). Currently, the school is being requisitioned as an quarantine area, so students will not be able to come to school in the near future. To ensure the school year plan, the school has developed an online teaching plan, and at the same time, cooperated with organizations and associations to support and manage students; directed teachers to flexibly and creatively apply online timetables for teaching.

During the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic, to prepare for the new school year, the education and training sector is developing plans and preparing conditions for the 2021-2022 school year to run safely and effectively. Accordingly, the department has been requesting schools to actively propagate and thoroughly inform officers, teachers, staff and students to regularly update, monitor and strictly implement preventive measures against COVID-19 pandemic; to be ready to activate and adjust learning plans from offline to online; to combine online with offline teaching to ensure the goal of the school year. The sector determines to successfully implement the “dual goals” of both effective pandemic prevention and control and the content of the teaching program according to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training.

It can be said that with the initiative, flexibility, creativity, determination to overcome difficulties of the whole education and training sector and especially of schools, it is believed that in the new school year, the officers, teachers, staff and students in the whole province will overcome difficulties with many creative and effective ways with high-achievement.
