The Delegation of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities and the representative of the Asian Development Bank worked with the Provincial People’s Committee.

(LSO) – On the afternoon of November 19, the Delegation of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities and the representative of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) worked with Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee on preparing the project “Developing green infrastructure adapting to climate change for ethnic minorities”. Mr. Luong Trong Quynh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee chaired the meeting with the delegation.

The ADB-financed project “Developing green infrastructure adapting to climate change for ethnic minorities” is implemented in Vietnam.

The implemented project will contribute to the socio-economic development, job creation, people’s stabilized life and production development; poverty reduction support, especially for ethnic minorities in localities.

At the meeting, the representative of the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board presented the project proposal in the province. Accordingly, it is expected that the scope of the project will be in the communes of districts: Chi Lang, Huu Lung, Cao Loc, Loc Binh, Van Lang and Lang Son City.

It is expected that the main results of the project are transport connections, creating pervasive regional links to areas with potentials for economic development; supplying irrigation water for over 500 ha of agricultural production land and water for domestic use for about 5,000 households. The total investment is about 103 million USD, the time of project preparation and implementation is from 2021 to 2025 and so on.

At the meeting, delegates discussed and clarified the contents of the project proposal. Accordingly, the representative of the delegation requested the Provincial People’s Committee to continue considering, selecting and proposing suitable and highly feasible sub-projects. In particular, beneficiaries must focus on ethnic minorities in accordance with the project’s objectives. The Committee for Ethnic Minorities will synthesize proposals to prepare a report and send it to Ministry of Planning and Investment and Ministry of Finance to consider and submit to Prime Minister for approval.

Speaking at the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee thanked the Committee for Ethnic Minorities and ADB for caring about Lang Son province. At the same time, he wished that in the coming time, ADB will send experts to survey the details of the sites, assist Lang Son to complete the project proposal and implement follow-up procedures as prescribed.
