Import and export tax collection: Results in the first months of the year

– In the first months of 2021, the import and export (import-export) activities of goods through the provincial border gates are still facing many difficulties due to a number of unfavorable factors. Thanks to the drastic and flexible implementation of measures, in the first 4 months of 2021, the total revenue from goods imports and export activities through the province reached more than VND 2,200 billion, equal to 65% of the estimate, showing an increase of 135% with the same period in 2020.

Along with that, a number of new regulations from China in cross- border trade activities have caused a number of difficulties for goods import and export activities through the province’s border gates; Some types of domestically produced goods have to be temporarily suspended from export. Facing this situation, the leaders of the provincial Customs Department have instructed the customs sub-department at the border gates to drastically implement measures to promote customs clearance activities”- said Mr. Nguyen Huu Vuong, Deputy Director of the Provincial Customs Department.

This has created confidence for the local business community to import and export goods, thereby attracting more businesses to import and export goods through the provincial border gates. At the same time, the provincial Customs Department has continued to implement a number of measures to promote goods import and export activities across the area. Accordingly, the customs office will continue to implement the administrative reform plan, create maximum favorable conditions for the import-export and exchange of goods across the area; strengthen inspection of import and export goods; step up the fight against smuggling and trade fraud. At the same time, it is important to promote the fight against tax loss such as: strictly controlling the declaration of goods names, codes, values ​​and tax rates; specializing inspection, post-customs clearance inspection for consignments showing signs of violation.

Not only the customs sector, departments, branches and other forces of the province have also drastically and flexibly implemented measures to promote import and export activities. Specifically, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Management Board of Dong Dang – Lang Son Border Economic Zone, the Border Guard Command actively coordinated and held talks with Chinese agencies to find solutions. improve customs clearance capacity. In particular, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Management Board of Dong Dang – Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone have well performed the role of connecting Chinese businesses to sign import-export trade contracts with domestic enterprises, thereby making contribution to creating stability in goods import-export activities between the two countries.

The above mentioned measures have helped increase the import-export tax revenue each month. Specifically, the import and export tax in January 2021 was more than 185 billion VND, in February it was nearly 588 billion VND, in April it reached more than 1,000 billion VND.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, although the tax collection results from import-export activities in the past few months have achieved positive results, the actual developments in the beginning of May 2021 show the situation of commercial activities. The border in the remaining months of 2021 will still face many challenges.

“In the coming months, the industry and trade will continue to grasp the situation of import and export activities at border gates to report and advise the Provincial People’s Committee to promptly take measures in each specific situation. In addition, the department also creates maximum favorable conditions in issuing certificates of origin (C/O) so that exporting enterprises can enjoy preferential tariffs when exporting goods to China” – said Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dai, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade.

The results of import and export tax collection in the first four months of 2021 have shown the efforts of all levels, branches and forces of the province in promoting goods import and export activities through the locality and the task of State budget collection. commodity import and export activities. In the coming time, departments, branches and forces of the province continue to synchronously implement solutions to achieve and exceed the estimate of import and export tax collection across the area (the assigned target is 3,450 billion VND, the target strive for 4,000 billion).

In the first 4 months of 2021, goods import and export activities through border gates in the province were relatively active, especially at the border gates: Huu Nghi, Tan Thanh. Total import and export turnover reached 1,290 million USD, reached 41.9% of the plan, increased 57.3% over the same period in 2020.
