Lang Son: Promoting the development of digital economy

– On the morning of July 20, in Chi Lang district, the Provincial People’s Committee held a ceremony to promote the digital economy development of Lang Son province.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Ho Tien Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mrs. Doan Thi Hau, Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Council; Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Standing Vice Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee; the leader of Vietnam Post Corporation; Viettel Post Joint Stock Corporation and the departments and sectors of the province.

After a period of pilot implementation in Chi Lang commune and Chi Lang town, Chi Lang district, the digital economy development program has achieved remarkable results. People in these commune and town have opened over 1,000 digital booths and opened e-payment accounts. Along with that, there were nearly 200 orders worth more than 30 million VND sold through e-commerce platforms postmart.vn, voso.vn.

Currently, Chi Lang district is entering the custard apple harvest with an output of over 15,000 tons. To support farmers to consume the produce, the Provincial People’s Committee and the People’s Committee of Chi Lang district have implemented many consumption and advertisement promotion activities.

Not only Chi Lang district, there are also many agricultural products and specialties such as star anise, cinnamon, black jelly, persimmons, tangerines, oranges, grapefruits, pears, grilled spring rolls, roasted duck, roasted pork, bamboo shoots with chili…

The development of sales on e-commerce channels and a fast transportation system will help people in the province consume agricultural products, improve production and business efficiency.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee emphasized that Lang Son’s dominant field was services, accounting for 50% of the province’s economic structure. However, trade services had not developed sustainably because it depended on many factors, including the quality of human resources, the legal environment, technical infrastructure and State policies.

The leaders and delegates visited agricultural products sold on the e-commerce platform displayed at the ceremony.

The Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress affirms that one of the three strategic breakthroughs is the construction of a systematic connection infrastructure, especially a very new element that is “Focusing on the development of information and telecommunications infrastructure, creating a foundation for national digital transformation, gradually developing the digital economy and digital society”. Together with the whole country, Lang Son identifies digital transformation and development of the digital economy as a key task that needs to be focused on leading and directing in the implementation.

In order to effectively implement digital transformation and develop the digital economy, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee expected that the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development would pay attention to direct and help Lang Son province in digital economic development; promptly advise the Government to promulgate mechanisms and policies to develop the digital economy in mountainous and border regions, especially provinces with border gates.

He also suggested departments, commissions, sectors, People’s Committees of districts and city need to raise their awareness and determination to implement the digital transformation process and develop the digital economy, identifying this as the key task of the province, as the responsibility of every sector, every field, every official and party member. Vietnam Post Corporation, Viettel Post Joint Stock Company, Viettel Lang Son, and Lang Son Provincial Post Offices should closely coordinate with the Department of Information and Communications, People’s Committees of districts, city and related agencies, allocate maximum forces to the area with digital economy development, propagate, guide and support households to create digital stores and e-payment accounts; guide households to buy and sell products on digital stores.

At the ceremony, representatives of districts and service providers spoke to receive their tasks and expressed their determination to deploy the digital economy in Lang Son province.
