Provincial officials examine production models in Lang Son city

(LSO) – A delegation led by Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ho Tien Thieu made a fact-finding trip to some production models on March 17, namely the pig farm of the An Hong Agricultural Production and Services Cooperative in Quang Lac commune and the project that links vegetable production with sale of the Lang Son Hi-tech Agriculture and Development Cooperative in Binh Cam hamlet of Mai Pha commune.

The farm of the An Hong Agricultural Production and Services Cooperative covers 13,350 sq.m. of land. The cooperative inaugurated the pig farming project, which follows biosecurity procedures, in late February 2020. It is also cooperating with prestigious partners in pork production and sale.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ho Tien Thieu and other members of the delegation visit the pig farming model of the An Hong Agricultural Production and Services Cooperative.

The cooperative is raising 100 breeding sows and 1,500 pigs for meat, providing jobs for 15 people. It is set to supply about 600 tonnes of high-quality pork to the market each year.

Meanwhile, the Lang Son Hi-tech Agriculture and Development Cooperative began cultivating vegetables on an area of 11,000 sq.m. in September 2019. Due to unfavourable factors on the market and of weather, its revenue last year was unable to cover expenses.

In 2020, the cooperative has been farming new crops like honeydew melon and strawberry and has invested in modern farming equipment.

Visiting the cooperatives, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ho Tien Thieu appreciated their efforts in developing new production models.

In particular, he said, the An Hong Agricultural Production and Services Cooperative has invested in its pig farming model in a methodological and professional manner, initially generating good outcomes, and this model could be multiplied in Lang Son province.

The official asked relevant departments and sectors, as well as the People’s Committee of Lang Son city, to continue removing difficulties facing local cooperatives.

Besides, the cooperatives should be more proactive in building production and business plans and coordinating with authorities to improve their operational efficiency.

While the An Hong Agricultural Production and Services Cooperative needs to keep perfecting the closed-loop chain from production to sale, the Lang Son Hi-tech Agriculture and Development Cooperative should select suitable crops, improve its personnel’s quality, and capitalise on the built infrastructure, according to the Vice Chairman./.
