Lang Son: Summaries of the Youth Development Strategy and Young Intellectual with Voluntary work Project

(LSO) – On October 21, Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee held a meeting to summarize the implementation of the Youth Development Strategy for the period 2012-2020 and the Project of Young Intellectuals with voluntary work in communes with the aim to develop the economy of participate in rural and mountainous development phase 2013 – 2020 (Project  No. 500) in Lang Son province.

Attending the conference were Mr. Nguyen Long Hai, Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee, leaders  of the Youth Affairs Department, Ministry of Home Affairs, delegates of depart branches, communal People’s Committees and participants of the project in the whole province.

Lang Son province has over 170,000 people aged from 16 to 30 years old, accounting for 21.76%. After 10 years of implementation, the Youth Development Strategy has brought about an effective result, changing  local authority’s people’s awareness of the role of youth and their abilities  in the new era.

The implementation of the strategy has encourage the entire political system to carry out the State management of youth and youth development in the province. The state management apparatus on youth affairs at all levels has been gradually strengthened. Local departments and branches have assigned leaders and civil servants to advise and implement mechanisms and policies in relation to young people.

In the 2012-2020 period, Lang Son province has achieved and exceeded 20 in 23 et-up targets and plans. In which, there should be highlighted the comprehensive achievements of the targets in political, ideological, traditional and legal education. The targets of investment in infrastructure achieve 5 out of six targets whereas the target of job training and retraining for young people reached  3 of 4  planned targets; international work reached 3/3 targets.

Regarding the implementation of the Project “ Young Intellectuals with voluntary work“ for the cause of rural and mountainous development in the period 2013 – 2020, Lang Son province has recruited 24 young intellectuals to volunteer to the communes of the districts of  Dinh Lap, Binh Gia. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, they were selected from 278 candidates.

During their voluntary time in communes, they actively participated in implementing programs in order to build the so called new rural style areas in the locality, co-worked with communes’ leaders to solve complaints and denunciations of local citizens. The were proactive in coordinating with organizations and unions in communes to organize and implement the assigned tasks with the high level of effectiveness and advise communal People’s Committee to implement administrative reforms, develop and implement internal spending regulations.

Collectives received certificates of merit from the Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee for having Outstanding achievement in implementing the Development Strategy Youth of Lang Son province in the period of 2012 – 2020

Speaking at the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee praised and acknowledged the efforts of departments, unions, communes and volunteers in implementing the Youth Development Strategy and the Project No. 500.

He suggested that in the coming time, concerned and related agencies and branches should continue to put efforts into the work to achieve and exceed 3 uncompleted targets; urgently grasp the lessons and implement new guidelines and policies of the Party and State on youth issues. He emphasized that related departments, branches and unions should continue to pay attention and coordinate with the locality to boost the implementation of projects related to youth work in the future.

Regarding the implementation of Project NO. 500, it is necessary for districts and communes to continue to pay attention to human resources. Volunteers keep trying to  work on assigned task in the project.

At the meeting, 12 collectives and 9 individuals were awarded  certificates of recognition  from the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee for their outstanding achievements in the implementation of the Lang Son Youth Development Strategy for the period 2012 – 2020; 3 collectives and 5 individuals were awarded certificates of merits from the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee for their outstanding achievements in implementing the pilot project and recruiting young intellectuals to join the cause rural and mountainous development, in the period 2013 – 2020.
