Praising the 80 typical collectives, individuals with disabilities and patrons

(LSO) – On October 22, Lang Son Association for Handicapped Support and Child Rights Protection held the conference to praise Lang Son province’s disabled people doing business well and typical patrons for the first time, period 2015 – 2020.

Attending the conference were Mr. Nguyen Long Hai, Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Luong Phan Cu, Chairman of the Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans and 145 representatives from departments, sectors, unions, and representatives of people with disabilities in the province.

The Provincial Association for the Support of Handicapped and Orphans was established in 2015. By 2017, the association changed its name to Lang Son Association for Handicapped Support  and Child Rights Protection.

In the past five years, the association has done a good job of propagating the association’s activities, organizing the training of wheelchair programs for districts; holding children’s forums, training life skills for people with disabilities and orphans.

The Association mobilizes organizations, individuals and donors to allocate more than 1,000 wheelchairs for people with disabilities to mobilize, more than 240 bicycles and thousands of scholarships, gifts for orphans and children with special circumstances, disabled people with difficult circumstances; coordinate to organize free vocational training for the deaf and dumb and so on. The total value of activities reaches nearly 30 billion VND.

At the conference, delegates exchanged, discussed, and shared experiences in the process of mobilizing, supporting and helping people with disabilities; some typical people with disabilities shared economic development models and forms  suitable to people with disabilities.

Speaking at the conference, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee acknowledged and praised the achievements of the Provincial Association for Handicapped Support  and Child Rights Protection in recent years. He suggested that all levels and sectors continue to pay more attention to caring for and helping people with disabilities and orphans in the province. In particular, the Provincial Association for Handicapped Support and Child Rights Protection must strengthen coordination with all levels, sectors and local authorities to mobilize resources and act as a bridge to organize activities to care for and help people with disabilities and orphans in an increasingly practical and effective manner, contributing to accompanying the locality to implement social security.

On this occasion, 80 collectives received certificates of merit from the Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans and the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.
