Praising 60 typical creditable people among the ethnic minorities

(LSO) – On December 29, the Provincial Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs held a conference to praise the typical creditable people among ethnic minorities in Lang Son province in 2020.

Attending and directing the conference was Mr. Luong Trong Quynh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee. Attending the conference were also the leaders of departments, commissions, sectors, People’s Committees of districts and city and 60 typical creditable people among ethnic minorities in the area.

According to the report, there have currently been 1,810 creditable people among ethnic minorities.

With the attention of Party committees, authorities at all levels, creditable people have played a role in propaganda and mobilization of ethnic minorities to actively participate in economic development, poverty reduction, environmental protection, to fight against crime and social evils, to build a cultural life in residential areas.

In 2020, reputable people have built 22 new linkage, backup and self-management models in terms of security and order, bringing the total number of existing models to 98; provided over 770 criminal information sources, helping functional forces and investigating agencies who clarified 339 criminal cases, arrested 425criminals, discovered and arrested 113 gambling cases, 592 gambling criminals, seized nearly 1.9 billion and many other exhibits…

At the conference, a number of typical reputable people discussed, shared their experiences in propaganda and mobilization of the people for economic development, grassroots reconciliation, guaranteeing security and order…

Speaking at the conference, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee acknowledged the contribution of creditable people among ethnic minorities.

He expected the creditable people to continue promoting the achieved results, overcome difficulties, and complete the assigned tasks; to be exemplary, to live with gratitude, to spread national pride to descendants, to preserve and promote fine cultural traditions; to strengthen the block of great national unity.

He affirmed that in the coming time, the Provincial People’s Committee continued to propose to the Central Government to issue guidelines, mechanisms and policies which prioritize resources, support ethnic minority communities to  attract investment in infrastructure, create livelihoods, ensure social security, step by step improve people’s lives, especially in highland, remote and isolated areas.

He suggested that the Provincial Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs, departments, sectors, and People’s Committees of districts and cities fully absorb legitimate opinions of reputable people to concretize programs and plans of branches and units, contributing to implementing ethnic policy in the province.

In the program, the Head of the Provincial Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs praised and presented certificates of merit to typical creditable 60 people among ethnic minorities for many achievements in propaganda, legal dissemination and education among ethnic minorities in 2020.
