A typical leader on the fight against Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control

– Doctor Duong Anh Dung, Head of the Department of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control, Provincial Center for Disease Control has always been known as a leader in the fight against Covid-19. During his work, Dr. Dung always volunteered to go to places at risk of Covid-19 outbreak to quickly investigate, trace, take samples for testing, and localize the pandemic.

Dr. Duong Anh Dung was born in 1968. In 1990, he graduated from Bac Thai Medical University (now Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy) and received a job at the Provincial Department of Health Protection for Provincial Officials. In 2003, he moved to the Provincial Preventive Medicine Center, now the Provincial Center for Disease Control. In the process of working, Dr. Dung is always a person with a high sense of responsibility, successfully completing all assigned tasks. This is even more evident when the Covid-19 pandemic appeared in the country and in the province from the beginning of 2020 until now. He has always been well aware that the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic is a key and urgent task that needs to be focused on, therefore he actively advises his leaders and those of the Department of Health to promptly issue important documents on urging and implementing pandemic prevention and control according to regulation. He was always the pioneer in entering pandemic areas or the ones with suspected cases to investigate, take samples for testing, localizing, and prevent the pandemic.

Doctor Duong Anh Dung confided: “When there was information about cases of Covid-19 infection (F0), a case of close contact with a person suspected of being infected with SARS-CoV-2 (F1, F2), I promptly advised my unit’s leaders to implement plans for investigation, tracing, sampling for testing, localizing and preventing the pandemic in order to promptly detect infected and suspected cases as soon as possible to quarantine, prevent and control the Covid-19 pandemic, minimizing the number of cases and deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. I myself have always volunteered to take the lead in this task.”

As the leader of the Rapid Response Team No. 1 for Covid-19 prevention and control of the Department of Health, Dr. Dung and his members are always on duty 24/24 to respond to situations related to the Covid-19 pandemic and support medical units in the province to take steps to prevent and control the pandemic; directly guide training classes on supervision, handling and sampling for Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control for Rapid Response Teams at districts and other organizations. Especially, since the fourth outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, only from April 27, 2021 to May 30, 2021, Dr. Dung has carried out many trips with colleagues in the unit to pandemic centers for epidemiological investigation, screening, sampling for testing, examination, classification and advice on appointment of quarantine for treatment, prevention and control for over 60 F0 cases, over 2,000 F1 cases and over 19,000 F2 cases in all districts and cities…

The specialist doctor at second level, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Deputy Director of the Provincial Center for Disease Control said: “Mr. Duong Anh Dung’s have contributed to the good prevention and control of Covid-19 pandemic in the area. The unit will regularly encourage and create conditions for him to complete the task well. At the same time, we always timely praise, reward and encourage cadres, officials and employees in the center to learn and follow the spirit and the way of handling work promptly and effectively of Dr. Dung”

With his own efforts, in January 2021, Doctor Duong Anh Dung was awarded a certificate of merit by the Prime Minister for his achievements in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic, contributing to the cause of national socialist development and national defense.

During the increasingly complicated situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Duong Anh Dung said: “I will continue to do my best with my colleagues on the front line of pandemic prevention and control, together with the Provincial Center for Disease Control, party committees and authorities to effectively implement the dual goals of both disease prevention, control and socio-economic development.”
