Activating all epidemic prevention and control measures at the highest level

– This is the direction of Mr. Ho Tien Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee at the urgent meeting of the Provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Control and Prevention on the morning of May 6.

Attending the meeting were leaders of the Provincial People’s Committee, members of the Provincial Steering Committee for the Epidemic Prevention and Control and leaders of People’s Committees of districts and the city.

According to the Report of Department of Health, on May 5, 2021, Lang Son Lung Hospital received patient N.T.V.A, a resident of Van Lang district, who was transferred by the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases. The patient’s testing sample was taken for SARS-CoV-2 screening.

At 0:00 on May 6, 2021, the Provincial General Hospital announced the screening result of the patient N.T.V.A positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus. The Provincial General Hospital sent the patient’s sample to central units for confirmation.

Currently, patient N.T.V.A has been transferred to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases 2 to continue treatment.

As soon as the screening test result is available, Department of Health has implemented many measures to trace and zone relevant cases: Timely blocking the entire Lang Son Lung Hospital and take testing samples of the whole medical staff, patients and patients’ family members at the hospital; tracing cases of sitting with patient N.T.V.A in the passenger car moving from Hanoi to Lang Son. Department of Health also informed Huu Lung Health Center to close Manh Ha Restaurant, Huu Lung district and took all restaurant staff’s samples for testing.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee directed that facing the complicated developments of the epidemic, the units in the province must immediately activate all plans and measures to prevent and control the epidemic at the highest level.

Functional forces must perform fast tracing, safe quarantine of cases related to disease cases; continue to strengthen and diversify forms of propaganda on the epidemic prevention and control to raise the people’s awareness and responsibility. At the same time, it is required to restrict unnecessary gathering activities; strictly punish the cases of not wearing facial masks in public places and cases of posting false information about the epidemic, causing confusion in public opinions.

The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee requested Department of Health to organize a large-scale screening test for SARS-CoV-2; regularly inspect and ensure safety in the epidemic prevention and control at medical facilities, prevent cross-infection in hospitals.

• At 15:30 on May 6, 2021, N.T.V.A patient’s sample result was confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus by the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. Right on the morning of May 6, Lang Son Lung Hospital was completely blocked. The traceability of related cases is being urgently implemented by functional forces with the motto “active prevention, early detection, fast quarantine, timely and effective treatment”, minimizing the disease’s penetrating and spreading in the community
