Implementing the prevention and control of COVID-19 in schools

– This afternoon (January 11), the Department of Education and Training held a conference to implement the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic in schools and to discuss about the plan to allocate computers sponsored by the second “Waves and computers for children” program.

The conference was held online connected to 54 locations including Divisions of Education and Training, high schools, Centers for Vocational Training – Continuing Education in the province.

Over the past time, despite being heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, units and schools have overcome difficulties, ensuring the educational progress and program for the first semester of the 2021-2022 school year.

However, according to the reports of the units, by the morning of January 11, 2022, the whole province had 268 students and 57 teachers who were infected with Covid-19 and more than 3,000 teachers and students who were their related F1.

In order to ensure a safe school environment, at the conference, the Provincial Department of Education and Training has implemented guidance on safety measures for the prevention and control of the pandemic at educational institutions and schools according to the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health in all schools at all pandemic levels.

For online teaching, as of January 11, 2022, there are 93 schools in the province applying online teaching. In order to timely support students, the Department of Education and Training has developed a plan to allocate computers supported by the second “Waves and computers for children” program, which is expected to allocate 610 computers to 7 units of the Division of Education and Training and 40 computers to the subordinate units. Thereby, it gradually meets the requirement for learning equipment of students with extremely difficult circumstances who are studying online at schools.

Through listening to instructions on COVID-19 prevention and the proposed plan to allocate computers to students, representatives of units and schools discussed and proposed a number of solutions focusing on COVID-19 prevention and effective in-person and online teaching and learning in the near future.

Concluding the conference, the leader of the Department of Education and Training requested that in the second semester of the 2021-2022 school year, under the permissible conditions, the units need to accelerate new lessons and core content to timely complete the teaching program; regarding cases with the risk of being infected with Covid-19, it was necessary to consider the leave of individual, class and grade for a certain period of time. At the same time, they should continue to prepare for online teaching; require students to strictly comply with 5K regulations, coordinate with health agencies to speed up the vaccination for junior high school students.
