The “strong shield” prevents drugs from crossing the border

– The Provincial Border Guard is responsible for managing and protecting more than 231 km of the national border line and is in charge of ​​21 communes and towns in 5 border districts of Lang Son province. Over the past time, along with the task of preventing illegal entry and exit, prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Provincial Border Guard has actively fought against all kinds of criminals, especially those who illegally trade in and transport drugs across the border.

Because the province’s border area is wide, with many trails and shortcuts, criminals take advantage of this pattern to trade and transport banned goods across the border. Along with that, fighting and preventing drug traffickers is very difficult and dangerous, because the criminals are always armed, very aggressive and tricky. They often carefully study the situation in the border area and monitor the activities of the functional forces.

Despite facing many difficulties and dangers, border guards and soldiers are still staying firm day and night on the front line of defense against illegal drug trafficking and transportation across the border. Thereby, from 2020 to now, the Provincial Border Guard forces have successfully solved 2 special cases, arrested 27 cases with 42 criminals, seized 273 kg of synthetic drugs, 18 heroin bars and many others related. In addition, the Border Guard force also cooperated with the police force to successfully fight against 3 special cases, arresting 9 cases with 21 criminals, seized 20 heroin bars, 47,431 synthetic drug pills. The process of organizing and deploying the fight is conducted methodically, ensuring absolute safety for people, equipment and vehicles.

Typically, in 2020, the Provincial Border Guard forces successfully solved LS320P project. Lieutenant Colonel Trinh Nguyen Sang, Deputy Head of the Division of Drug and Crime Prevention and Control, Provincial Border Guard said: “In early 2020, through the information of the activities of drug criminals inside and outside the country, after considering that the Chinese suspected cooperated with the Vietnamese living near the border and knowledgeable about the terrain to transport the drug across the border in a very tricky and reckless, the Provincial Border Guard Command decided to set up a specialist LS320P project, on March 13, 2020, then successfully solved it, arresting 3 criminals in the line of illegal drugs transportation from Vietnam to China, and seized 273 kg of total synthetic drugs.”

From the beginning of 2021 up to now, Border Guard forces have coordinated with functional forces to arrest 13 cases with 45 criminals, and seized 4 heroin bars and 81.44 grams of heroin; uprooted 75 poppy plants; arrested 1 case with 24 criminals illegally using drugs and some related exhibits.

Lieutenant Colonel Dang Hung Cuong, Head of Ba Son Border Guard Station, said: “The unit is responsible for managing and protecting more than 41 km of the border line and is in charge of three communes including Cao Lau, Xuat Le and Mau Son (Cao Loc districts). To fight and prevent drug crimes, the unit cooperates with the authorities of 3 communes to propagate and mobilize people not to illegally cross the border, avoid to assist drug transportation; strengthens forces to follow the situation in grassroots level, exchanges information closely with functional forces on internal and external situations, especially in key areas, resolutely solves, prevents hot spots of drug-related crimes. Thereby, at 8:00 p.m., on June 8, 2021, in Po Ma village, Xuat Le commune, the Mobile Control Team of Ba Son Border Guard Station coordinated with the Drug and Crime Prevention and Control Division, Provincial Border Guards discovered and arrested Vi Van Hung in Po Ma village, Xuat Le commune, illegally storing drugs, and seized 39 small packages of heroin.”

The feats of the Provincial Border Guard have confirmed their role as a “strong shield” to prevent illegal drug trafficking and transportation across the border. In the coming time, the Provincial Border Guard forces will increasingly follow key areas, proactively take professional measures to fight and prevent crimes, and maintain security and order in the border areas.
