Launching the movement “Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange”

(LSO) – This morning, January 12, the Provincial Red Cross held a ceremony to launch the movement “Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange” in the Year of the Buffalo, 2021.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, and the leaders of a number of departments, commissions, sectors of the province, the leaders of People’s Committees of districts, city and numerous organizations,businesses and benefactors.

Making his opening speech at the launching ceremony, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee acknowledged the achievements which has created pervasiveness in the community of the movement “Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange” over the years, launched by the Provincial Red Cross.

He expressed his wish that by launching this ceremony, it would continue to receive more support and long-term companionship of agencies, businesses, organizations, and benefactors inside and outside the province in terms of social welfare in general and the movement “Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange” in particular.

Afterwards, the leader of the Provincial Red Cross read the letter to call for support of the movement from comrade Hoang Van Nghiem, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, Honorary Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross and to spread the messages “Spring of gratitude – sharing of love” and “Good leaves protect torn leaves”.

At the end of the launching ceremony, the Organizing Committee of the ceremony received the support from organizations, units, businesses and individuals inside and outside the province through the Provincial Red Cross with over 2.4 billion VND ( by both cash and goods). Delegates, organizations, businesses, and donors participating in the ceremony directly supported the movement with over 282 million VND.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee of th ceremony and Provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Lang Son province awarded 60 million VND to support the construction of two houses of gratitude to the family of Mr. Tran Van Tut, Yen Ha village, Yen Trach commune (Cao Loc) and the family of Ms. Hoang Thi Duyen, Ban Pieng village, Thai Binh commune (Dinh Lap). The Provincial Red Cross awarded 10 gifts to 10 poor and excellent students of the Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School.
