The Provincial Border Guard: Together with border people in Covid-19 prevention and control

– Colonel Trinh Huu Tang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard, affirmed that amid the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, officers and soldiers of the Provincial Border Guard always follow the locality to propagate to people to be well aware of the dangers of the disease. At the same time, mobilize people to uphold the spirit and sense of responsibility of themselves and their families in the work of epidemic prevention and control, not to enter and exit illegally. Thereby, mobilizing the synergy of the people in the border area together with border guards to successfully implement the “dual goal”.

In that spirit, from 2020 until now, officers and soldiers of the Provincial Border Guard have made efforts to implement the movement “All people participate in Covid-19 prevention and control, fight against illegal entry and exit” in border areas. Border guard posts in the province have coordinated with local authorities to deploy a peak campaign of propaganda, launch movements and organize for thousands of households to sign commitments to participate in epidemic prevention and control and fight against illegal entry and exit.

The officers of Na Hinh Border Guard Post propagated about Covid-19 prevention and control and fight against illegal entry and exit to people in the area.

Typically, Ba Son Border Guard Post manages and protects more than 41 km of the national border line and is in charge of three communes: Cao Lau, Xuat Le and Mau Son (Cao Loc district). The unit has self-compiled propaganda materials, printed mobile propaganda leaflets, broadcast on loudspeaker systems in three communes and villages; individual propaganda to households, combining with concentrated propaganda at village meetings. At the same time, officials and party members participating in meetings at villages and hamlets, party members in charge of households have visited, combined propaganda and distributed leaflets to the people about the Covid-19 epidemic situation.

Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Trung Hieu, Politician of Ba Son Border Guard Post said that Party Committee and Command Board of the post have closely coordinated with Party committees and authorities of the communes to exchange information, firmly grasp the situation in the area and mobilize the strength of the entire people in border areas to participate in the Covid-19 prevention and control and fight against illegal entry and exit. The unit has distributed 9,500 leaflets and coordinated and organized for 2,135 households to sign commitments to implement measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic and illegal entry and exit; deducting the fund of the unit to buy 2,500 medical masks and distribute free of charge to the People and so on.

At Na Hinh Border Guard Post, Major Pham Van Dung, Captain of the Mass Mobilization Team, said that the unit is in charge of three communes: Thanh Long, Thuy Hung and Trung Khanh (Van Lang district); he himself has always pondered, thinking how to make the propaganda on epidemic prevention and control and fight against illegal entry and exit really effective, attractive and convincing. Since then, he has consulted, researched on the Internet, designed the content of propaganda leaflets with images, colors, easy to read and easy to see. Some propaganda leaflets even have visual images of those who violate the border crossing in the area, being handled by the law in order to propagate, warn, deter, attract and persuade people.

From 2020 up to now, border guard posts in the province have coordinated with local authorities and functional forces in border areas to organize propaganda on Covid-19 prevention and control and fight against illegal entry and exit; concentrated propaganda with 571 sessions/48,978 turns of people; small propaganda for 20,990 turns of people; propaganda on the loudspeaker system of communes and posts with 970 times/34,034 minutes; propaganda on portable speakers with 628 times/17,098 minutes; hanging 51 banners; combining with distributing 45,647 propaganda leaflets and 51,580 medical masks to people… Up to now, 17,284 officials and people in border areas have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

Through propaganda, people’s awareness has been raised, Mr. Dam Van Trung in Thanh Long commune, Van Lang district said that being propagated and distributed leaflets at home by border guards, he further knows about the Covid-19 stituation and how to prevent it. With the information and knowledge provided by border guards, he will propagate to his relatives and neighbors so that they understand and strictly abide by regulations on epidemic prevention and control to protect themselves and their families.

In the upcoming time, the Provincial Border Guard will continue to implement synchronous measures of border guard work, strengthen border defense diplomacy, propagate and mobilize the people to proactively prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic, illegal entry and exit and participate in border protection.
