Industrial production: Efforts to overcome difficulties

– In the face of difficulties caused by the Covid-19 epidemic, in order for production and business to reach the set plan, industrial production enterprises in the province have made efforts to implement appropriate solutions to adapt the situation.

According to the statistics of the Industry Management Division, Department of Industry and Trade, industrial production activities in the province from the end of April to mid-May 2021 faced many disadvantages due to the influence of the 4th outbreak of Covid-19 (at the end of April 2021). Facing that situation, enterprises operating in industrial production have changed their production and business strategies, choosing optimal solutions to overcome this difficult time.

Thanh Long Co., Ltd operates in the field of food processing (production of cakes and sweets), most of the company’s cake and candy output is exported to markets of countries: Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and so on. In April, 2021, the Covid-19 epidemic broke out in these countries, so exports faced many difficulties. To adapt, the company’s board of directors have changed business direction. Accordingly, the company focuses on the domestic market; actively explore the domestic market and consumer tastes to launch new products. At the same time, the company has reorganized the production stage to reduce product costs and improve competitiveness.

Ms. Dao Thi Hai, Deputy Director of Thanh Long Co., Ltd. said that the epidemic has had a significant impact on businesses, but facing this difficulty, the board of directors has tried to find many solutions. In particular, the company has actively promoted the images of cake and candy products through social networks such as Facebook, Zalo, YouTube and so on. With this effort, domestic orders of the company in the first half of May 2021 increased by about 61% compared to March 2021 (before that, the company’s orders were mainly for export). This has helped stabilize the company’s production.

As for Long Tan Co., Ltd (in Tu Doan commune, Loc Binh district, specializing in the production of chemicals, plastic products and primary synthetic rubber), at this time, besides promoting domestic consumption, the company’s board of directors continues to look for orders from some other countries. Ms. Le Thi Dung, Director of the company said that the company’s products are in primary form, so the company’s development orientation is to actively promote production and export. Especially in this period, the company has researched the market, looking for customers in markets such as the US, EU, Japan, Korea and so forth. Specifically, in the middle of this May, the company signed an order to supply synthetic rubber products until the end of 2021, with an order value of nearly 100 billion VND. In addition to disease prevention and control, in order to ensure the quality of export goods, the company will continue to invest in modern production machines, automate production, thereby improving finished product quality and output.

In addition to the above two enterprises, industrial manufacturing enterprises in other industry groups have also actively changed their production and business strategies.

According to the report of Department of Industry and Trade, businesses in  mining, manufacturing and processing industries that have been severely affected by the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic in 2020, all of them have had flexible solutions at this time. The companies have actively implemented solutions to improve the quality of corporate governance, focusing on the application of high-tech machinery in production to reduce costs. In particular, companies in the manufacturing industry relying on imported raw materials from the Chinese market have now actively sought alternative sources of raw materials, thereby helping prevent the production process from stalling.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dai, Director of Department of Industry and Trade, said that the Covid-19 epidemic has had a significant impact on production and business activities of industrial production enterprises, but with businesses’ actively implementing appropriate solutions effectively, industrial production has continued to have positive signals. Accordingly, through preliminary statistics, it is estimated that the output of some industrial products in the first half of May 2021 still increased in comparison to April 2021.

Specifically, the mining industry increased by 2.74%; processing and manufacturing industry increased by 5.2%. In particular, enterprises operating in fields of wood processing, leather, cement, metal production…, consumption volume in the first half of May 2021 still increased (wood production and processing is estimated to increase by 19.28%. due to finding a stable consumer market; production of leather and related products increased by 29.76% due to Nguyen Hong Leather Manufacturing Company having export orders to China; metal production increased by 6.57 % because the Northern Non-ferrous Metal Company has signed a number of export orders…).

In 2021, Lang Son province strives for industrial production value in the area to reach from 8 to 9%. In order to achieve the set goals, a prerequisite is that industrial enterprises continue to have reasonable production and business strategies and choose optimal solutions to overcome this difficult time.

According to a report of Department of Industry and Trade, in the context of many difficulties, especially affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, industrial production in the province has still maintained growth. Specifically, in the first four months of 2021, the province’s industrial production index increased by 5.53% over the same period in 2020.
